OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMEThe objectives of WHO's emergency programme are to design and implement programmes that prepare the health sector to deal with emergencies and that improve health during and after crises. Within the emergency programme, the objectives of WHO's emergency response team are to support Member States by: (1) promptly assessing health needs of populations affected by crisis, identifying priority causes of ill-health and death; preparing damage estimates and emergency response and rehabilitation plans; providing prompt, credible health information and ensuring the continuity of essential health services; (2) coordinating and monitoring emergency health relief efforts under the aegis of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Health Cluster, of which WHO is the lead agency; 3) ensuring that critical gaps in the health response are rapidly identified and filled; 4) revitalizing and building the capacity of national health systems to deal with preparedness, mitigation and response.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESUnder the supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Stores & Inventory Assistant will perform the following duties: --> Verify the quality of goods in close consultation with procurement unit as described in the delivery note and purchase order.--> Register all goods received and provide monthly status report--> Notify immediately the requesting units on arrival of goods.--> Ensure the most appropriate conditions of the goods stock as per industry standards--> Distribute the goods based on deployment plans provided by relevant units and ensure update through operations--> Maintain a record of inventory of spares part and consumables, receive notes from all offices--> Maintain the stores of vehicle diplomatic plate numbers and issue on approved requested for official vehicles and international staff.--> Maintain records of all plate numbers and ensure acknowledgement of receipt from international staff issued with registration plate numbers.--> Record all movements in and out of each warehouse items--> Provide monthly report on stores--> Complete Physical count on regular basis--> Complete quarterly inventory report--> Alert the technical unit with outstanding stock distributions in order to avoid the pre-emption or the overloading of the warehouse--> Analyse variances with warehouse data base and current recorded balances.--> Write memo if there are no missing goods, to Property Survey Committee to ascertain inventory status.--> Complete valuation of physically verified data--> Maintaining records of inventory in support of WHO programs and operations, including the monitoring of inventory items expiration dates, and liaison with the technical unit on how best to manage their eventual removal from the warehouse.--> Prepare accurate Inventory Annex III report providing correctly detail expiry dates; classification between purchased and donated inventory (entering the Award number), detail of average cost used for items that are the same or interchangeable for submission to the RO/ASO for review.--> Managing the physical storage of goods in accordance with the needs of the program and industry best practices.--> Complete the annual physical verification and reconciliation to system records as at 30 Nov (Inventory Annex 11 and IV)--> Monitor goods received, facilitating custom clearance and distributing supplies to districts or final receivers. --> Support the Supply Officer in liaising and coordinating with all actors involved in the supply chain, ensuring flow of stock and supply information to establish an adequate supply chain. --> Prepare a variety of supply related documents.--> Ensure that WCO facilities are regularly supplied of all needed commodities (stationery products, bottled water, etc).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EducationEssential: Completion of Secondary Education; or equivalent technical training or commercial education with specialization in stores keeping, warehousing and inventory management.
Desirable: Diploma or higher education in business administration and management will be an advantage.

ExperienceEssential: 5 years of working experience with 2 to 3 years of responsible work in stores, warehousing and inventory management.
Desirable: Experience within UN or other international organizations will be an advantage.

Skills--> Good knowledge of the principles of stores keeping, warehousing and inventory. --> Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications in areas of storekeeping and inventory management--> Global Management System (GSM).--> Knowledge of WHO rules, regulations, policies and practices would be an asset.

REMUNERATIONWHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at SLE 161,871 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
