Under the direct supervision and the overall guidance of the Head of the Online Communications Unit (OCU), the successful candidate will support the design and user experience for websites managed by the OCU.
- Support the planning and implementation of UX/UI and web design activities and provide guidance to assigned staff.
- Support the design of IOM websites and contribute to the development of plans for effective UX/UI.
- Prepare mockups for website projects, ensuring alignment with established design standards.
- Support and review web designs prepared by junior staff, providing feedback as needed.
- Contribute to website design and user experience for websites managed by OCU, ensuring alignment with IOM's branding guidelines.
- Work closely with project managers and developers to translate concepts and help define interface and user requirements for intuitive user experiences.
- Contribute to design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
- Support design during development and execution phases; assist with QA to help accurate implementation of designs.
- Support efforts to ensure designs meet UX/UI usability standards of the industry.
- Provide guidance to junior staff regarding UI/UX designs.
- Regularly review the user experience and user interface (UI/UX) design of the IOM.INT global website and contribute recommendations for improvements.
- Support user testing and gather feedback on proposed improvements. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify UI/UX requirements for assigned projects.
- Prepare wireframes and mockups to illustrate proposed improvements based on user feedback.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an institutional web design system
according to the IOM brand guidelines, best practices and agreed changes. - Support web design activities and provide design quality inputs for new and existing websites.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Graphical/Digital Design or other related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant work experience; or,
Accredited Universities are those listed in theย UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
EXPERIENCE
Relevant experience in UI/UX design in software development. Ability to provide or submit UX/UI design portfolio samples is required. Practical experience applying UX/UI best practices to design accesible web and mobile interfaces. Expertise in UX/UI software design tools such as Figma, InVision, Adobe Creative Suites (Illustrator) and the like is a must. Experience with design documentation, creation of mock-ups, requirements gathering and client interaction. Understanding of user cantered design and testing methodologies, subsystems and usability and accessibility concerns. Experience supervising junior designers. Ability to work independently without minimum supervision. Excellent problem solving, and design skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with business users and IT developers and ability to effectively communicate ideas.SKILLS
Proficient in using UX/UI software design tools such as Figma, InVision, Adobe Creative Suites (Illustrator). Able to translate business requirements into prototypes, workflows, mockups and wireframes.
