Terms of ReferenceFundacion Contra la Violencia Relacional (FCVR) is a local organization addressing gender-based violence (GBV), primarily intimate partner violence. They operate the only safe shelter for survivors in the country and provide comprehensive services, including case management and mental health and psychosocial support. As FCVR continues to strengthen its internal operations and align its structure with its Strategic Plan 2025โ2027, a key area of focus is the professionalisation of their financial management systems. Central to their institutional strengthening is the recruitment of a Senior Finance Assistant, a role critical to supporting their mission of eliminating gender-based and domestic violence in Aruba.
General Background of Project or Assignment, Operational Context:
Objective: To support the financial management and stewardship of Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional (FCVR) by providing support to financial functions, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards, Government Subsidy rules and regulations and facilitating transparency and accountability in financial operations.
Position Overview: The Senior Finance Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the financial management of the Foundation, a non-profit organization with a vision to reach an Aruba free of Gender-Based and Domestic Violence. This position is responsible for supporting the organization's financial functions, including bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, government subsidy management, donation management, payroll administration, financial reporting, compliance, tax-related tasks, bank transactions management and reconciliation, pension plan administration, SVB-related transactions and mutations, general ledger transactions including asset management, and inventory management.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
The Senior Finance Assistant will be supervised by the Director of โFundacion Contra Violencia Relacionalโ FCVR who will define work objectives and provide regular advice and guidance. The Senior Finance Assistant will assist FCVR with the processing of financial transactions, keep frequent contact with staff at various levels in the FCVR office and with bank officials to exchange information.
Duties:
- Maintain financial records for project or other office accounts for which responsibility is assigned.
- Record receipts and payments, assure accuracy of computation and completeness of documents and maintain continuing status of allotments against obligations.
- Prepare recurring reports on assigned accounts, noting problems resulting from excess cost or less-than-expected receipts.
- Prepare special reports to clarify problems or as requested for other reasons.
- Calculate and compile cost estimates and projected budget requirements and assist in preparation of budget statements for area of assignment.
- Prepare routine correspondence and maintain contracts with others to discuss matters concerning accounts and related assignments.
- Maintain contacts with local banks to clarify questions pertaining to office bank accounts.
- Brief and assist new staff on basic financial procedures and requirements with respect to payments, entitlements, banking and currency provisions and other requirements relating to accounts and finance.
- Initiate correspondence to verify data, answer queries and obtain additional information on accounts and financial transactions, as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
This is a national position offered as an Individual Contractor at the mid-level support until 31/12/2025. The vacancy is open to applications of nationals of Aruba. Required qualifications, language(s) and work experience:
Required/mandatory: Experience in financial management, accounting, or related field
Desirable: Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Desirable: Experience in a non-profit organization
Minimum years of work experience: 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher

The Senior Finance Assistant will report directly to the Managing Director of the Foundation, FCVR. Additionally, the position will have a secondary reporting line to the Foundation's Treasurer.
