Work LocationNAIROBI Expected duration6 MONTHS Duties and ResponsibilitiesUN Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP's Communication Division is seeking to recruit an intern to support communication activities related to UNEP Goodwill Ambassador (GWA) Programme. Under the general guidance of the Head of Resource Mobilization and Brand and Goodwill Ambassador Coordinator. Key Tasks: • Assist in the overall management and coordination of the UNEP Goodwill Ambassador Program. • Support the development of the UNEP GWA and influencers engagement plan at UNEA-7. • Support the identification of media and field trip opportunities for UNEP GWAs alongside UNEA-7. • Support the preparation of an engagement itinerary and briefing kits for UNEP GWAs attending UNEA-7. • Support the review and regular updating of the UNEP GWA webpage. • Support drafting of briefing documents and presentations as required. • Assist in creating engaging pitch decks for potential UNEP influencer engagement opportunities. • Assist with online research relating to celebrity supporters and GWA prospects • Support activation and media engagement analysis relating to UNEP GWAs • Assist in the daily management of the UNEP influencer administrative folder and engagement mapping. • Participate in the monthly GWA focal points meetings and assist with the follow-up on agreed actions. • Help produce weekly updates on relevant celebrity social media and digital activities, including media monitoring/social media engagement analytics • Carry out other duties on an as-needed basis as may be required. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). .Ideal candidates should possess: • Strong writing skills • Strong analytical skills • Proficiency in digital technology • Excellent interpersonal skills No working experience is required. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
