1. Background and Objective of the assignment The Academic Institutions and Executive Program (AIP) of the WIPO Academy supports intellectual property (IP) higher education in cooperation with selected academic institutions globally.ย  It is responsible for the WIPO joint Mastersโ€™ programs, as well as tailored support to universities in response to requests from Member States and universities in developing countries, LDCs and countries with economies in transition. The main form of such support is the development of IP curricula, syllabi, provision of IP academic materials, support of IP professors and experts.ย  It also supports academic research and teaching in the field of IP and cooperates in the organization of IP conferences and colloquia.

Demand for AIEPโ€™s services has increased substantially in recent years and the number of joint Masterโ€™s programs and IP higher education cooperation agreements managed by AIP has also seen significant growth.ย ย 

In order to respond to this exceptional increase in workload, AIP requires the services of a Program Coordinator hired through an individual services contract.ย  The incumbent will primarily be responsible for providing support services for the smooth and effective implementation of joint masterโ€™s programs which run annually. This includes, coordinating communications with university partners regarding program curricula; recommending and liaising with IP professors and experts to support IP teaching courses; coordinating the participation of WIPO experts in the masterโ€™s programs; and organizing study visit programs in Geneva for students of the Joint Masterโ€™s Programs. In addition, the incumbent will closely monitor the generic mailboxes to ensure timely and professional responses; support the identification and submission of procurement requests for IP reference books and other teaching resources for partner universities and assist in the scheduling of experts participating in partner events and conferences. The Program Coordinator will work with partner universities to undertake tracer studies to enable the Academy to assess better the impact of the Joint Masterโ€™s Degree programs.

2. Deliverablesย 

The Consultant will:

(a) Assist in planning and coordinating effective implementation of WIPO Joint Masterโ€™s Degree Programs and support to universities.ย  (b) Closely monitor IP curricula and syllabi being implemented as part of the WIPO Joint Masterโ€™s Programs and advise on the implementation of those programs in consultation with partners based on agreed plans, priorities and in line with strategic objectives. (c) Coordinate the provision of support for new requests for AIEPโ€™s services for universities seeking to increase access to IP higher education resources. (d) Assist in drafting programs and coordinate the delivery of lectures by WIPO substantive sectors for study visits to WIPO headquarters. (e) Coordinate the promotion of the AIEP program and facilitate the publicity of success stories from alumni of the Joint Masterโ€™s Programs. (f) Coordinate participation IP conferences and AIEPโ€™s effective communication of its work in this area in consultation with the relevant Divisions and substantive sectors.ย ย  (g) Work with partner universities to undertake Tracer Studies for graduates from the WIPO Joint Masterโ€™s Programs. (h) Quantitatively analyze responses received and present the result using relevant data visualization tools to illustrate the impact achieved by these programs and compile the results into Tracer Studies to be published on the WIPO Academy website. (i) Prepare and give PowerPoint presentations on the results of the Tracer Studies. (j) Prepare briefing notes, statements, reports and presentations related to IP teaching and research and IP conferences. (k) Perform other duties, as required.

The Consultant will be under the direct supervision of the Counsellor, AIP, WIPO Academy.

4. Requirements

The Consultant should have: (a) an advanced University degree in law, business, management or a field related to Intellectual Property law and policy;ย  (b) a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the area of partnerships and/or program management; (c) a strong client-service orientation; (d) excellent communication skills,
(e) resourceful and proactive (f) fluency in both written and spoken English and French is required

5. Duration of contract and payment

The Consultant will start on September 1, 2025 and end on February 28, 2026, with the possibility of extension for up to two years, subject to continued need and availability of budget.

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in either Swiss francs, Euros, British Pounds or USD.

6. Other information

ICS contractors fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The contractor has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the contractorโ€™s payment on a pro-rated basis.
