IOM India is in search for a qualified, committed, and enthusiastic professional to be a part of an exciting team to work on labour migration and human rights. Working under the direct supervision of the Head of Office and in close coordination with relevant programme team leaders, the Consultant (Labour and Human Mobility) will support the implementation, monitoring and reporting of activities falling within the domain of regular pathways; focusing specifically on country-level coordination related to the Colombo Process, the UN Network on Migration and the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).
- Support the Head of Office (HOO) in coordinating initiatives on labour migration and skills mobility pathways.
- Provide technical and operational assistance to the Colombo Process (CP) related coordination in implementing thematic activities, as guided by the member states.
- Assist in the coordination and monitoring of the operational aspects and interventions of the Colombo Process, in coordination with the Colombo Process Technical Support Unit (CPTSU), Colombo.
- Support the HOO in liaising with the IOM missions in the CP Member States’ capitals for implementation of the CP declarations at the national level.
- Assist the mission in implementing the Global Compact for Migration in India, through the national process and by assisting the United Nations Migration Network in India.
- Participate in the preparation of project proposals and a diverse range of communication products, concept notes and other planning documents.
- Assist in the coordination of timely preparation and dissemination of project reports following IOM procedures and donor requirements.
- Support the HOO in liaising and coordinating with the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, relevant IOM missions, donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, stakeholders and government counterparts as required.
- Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, interagency coordination meetings, and other forums.
- Undertake work-related travel as necessary.
- Coordinate with HOO in seeking feedback and approval for documentation on CP, GCM and UNM-related materials
- Liaise with the RM/Finance team as required, to ensure smooth functioning of assigned tasks.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
- Master’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Employment/ labour studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in the fields mentioned above with two years of relevant professional experience.
