Introduction

Name of Service: National Consultant- Support for implementation of innovative and sustainable pilot agricultural practices.

Project: Financing Agrochemical Reduction and Management in Lao PDR

Country: Laos

Description of the Assignment:

With guidance from the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and UNDP, the consultant is expected to deliver the following:

i. Project Implementation Support

Support the identification and selection of pilot sites and beneficiaries based on established criteria.

Develop detailed work plans and implementation strategies for pilot activities.

Provide technical advice on sustainable farming practices including but not limited to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and organic agriculture.

Conduct a SWOT analysis for the implementation of innovative and sustainable pilot agricultural practices.Support the development of partnership alliances for implementing innovative and sustainable pilot agricultural practices

Ensure effective coordination between government agencies, farmers, and other stakeholders.

ii. Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement

Organize and conduct demonstrations and training sessions for farmers, extension workers, and local authorities on good agricultural handling of agrochemicals, and alternative sustainable practices.

Facilitate knowledge exchange and best practice sharing among pilot project participants.

Engage with local communities to ensure their participation and ownership of pilot activities.

i. Reporting and Documentation

Prepare periodic reports鈥攊ncluding the inception report, technical reports, progress reports, and a completion/assignment report outlining achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Track the progress and effectiveness of the pilot activities on the project results

Document lessons learned and provide recommendations for scaling up successful interventions.

Contribute to knowledge products, including case studies and policy briefs.

Develop a final report summarizing key findings, opportunities for scaling up and sustainability recommendations.

All outputs and documents where applicable to be submitted in electronic form (soft copy) with approved formats compatible with Microsoft Office and Adobe Image and other files in approved formats.

Period of assignment/services: 80 working days.

Proposal should be submitted directly in the portal no later than indicated deadline.
