Work LocationVienna Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis post is located in the United Nations Security and Safety Service (UNSSS), Division for Management (DM) of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV). The Intern reports to the Chief, UNSSS through the Assistant Chief. The position supports the work of the Security and Safety Service. The internship is for six (6) months with a desired starting date in July 2025. The position will be UNPAID and full-time, i.e. five days (40 hours per week) under the supervision of the Assistant Chief, coordinator of the Security Risk Management Team. For information on the work of UNOV kindly visit www.unov.org Within assigned authority, the Intern will be responsible for the following duties: - Daily information collation from open sources; - Research on security topics and drafting of written assessments and reports; - drafting and delivery of briefings on security topics; - Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies; - Assist in the Pass Office with picture taking and other administrative tasks weekly; - Performs other related duties as required; Qualifications/special skillsApplicants should be at least in the final year of a first-level university degree in security management, criminology, criminal justice, international relations, law, and related fields. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent).or (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); โข Be computer literate in standard software applications; โข Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and โข Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (oral and written proficiency) is required.
