Result of ServiceThe consultant will provide the following deliverables. โ€ข A comprehensive action plan to elaborate the methodology (including the digital board) and update the dataset. โ€ข List of relevant stakeholders and contact points. โ€ข Updated questionnaires to be submitted to stakeholders to collect data. โ€ข Short results report of the updated quantitative and qualitative data. โ€ข Draft outline of the methodology booklet capitalizing on lessons learned from the two previous research phases, including the digital board. โ€ข Final methodological booklet based on lessons learned from the update of the quantitative and qualitative data collected and including the specific developed tested metrics included in the digital tracker as well as all requirements for maintenance and regular updates. โ€ข Two presentations of the study: one for COPUOS audience with preliminary results and a final one for a broader audience. Work LocationHome-based Expected duration12 JANUARY - 7 AUGUST 2026 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Associate Programme Officer leading the Programme, the overall guidance of the Chief of the Space Applications Section and under the overall strategic coordination of the Director of the Office, the consultant is expected to conduct, in full autonomy, the following three tasks: ๏ƒฐ First, the elaboration of a precise and comprehensive methodology, taking stock of the lessons learned and feedback received from the inception of the study. The methodology will enable UNOOSA to update the study on a regular basis and track the evaluation of the data over time. The methodology will be built based on the two previous study phases, and will include: - Quantitative metrics of womenโ€™s representation in both the public and private space sector, globally; - Qualitative metrics of womenโ€™s experience in both the public and private space sector, globally, highlighting the variety of gender barriers and bias; - Quantitative and qualitative metrics of gender equality policies and initiatives in both public and private space entities; The methodology will seek to take stock of the โ€œGender Barrier Perception Study in the Asian Space Sector (GISE-Space Asia)โ€, conducted by the Korean Aerospace Research Institute, to the extent possible. ๏ƒฐ Second, the update of the quantitative and qualitative database according to the methodology elaborated. The update will seek to enlarge the number of participating entities and countries, as much as possible. ๏ƒฐ Third, the consolidation of the studyโ€™s results into a digital board, accessible to all and allowing tracking of results over time. The digital board will be hosted on the unoosa.org website. The digital board will use Power BI or an external data hosting platform such as tableau.com. The board will be user-friendly and intuitive enough to be understandable by all. The digital tracker is expected to become the reference index for measuring gender equality in the space sector at the global level. It will also provide an invaluable database for tracking SDG5. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in economics, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least five (5) years working experience in the field of implementing research is required; Excellent research skills are required; Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required; Excellent report writing skills and ability to synthesize information are required; The ability to work independently and as an active member of a team is required; Experience in conducting and publishing quantitative and qualitative research in the field of gender equality in the space sector is required; Familiarity with the space sector is desirable; Experience working in international relations or for an international organization is desirable; LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
