Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Individual Contractor (IC) position is located in the Registry, Security and Safety Section of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), The Hague branch. The selected candidate will be offered a contract as an Individual Contractor. This position is subject to local recruitment. Under the supervision of the SSS IRMCT management, the IC - Security Officer within the limits of delegated authority is responsible for the following: 1. Provide duties that are focused on the provision of safety and security to personnel, property and visitors at the IRMCT Premises. 2. Provide security coverage at all access points. 3. Prevent entry of unauthorized people into the restricted area (This is stated below at point 9). 4. Provide support to the Security Operations Centre. 5. Responsible for regular inspection of IRMCT Offices/building site and basic fire precautions, i.e., reports defective security installations and security equipment, reporting all security violations to the direct supervisor. 6. Ensure that valid UN Identification Cards and Passes are worn by all personnel in accessing the premises. 7. Conduct patrols of the area of responsibility, recording and reporting any safety and security violations or observations. 8. Maintain alertness for any potential or actual breaches of security, disturbances, or unusual activities related to safety and security, and reporting these immediately through the reporting line. 9. Ensures that all personnel have authorization and proper documentation when removing any UN equipment/supplies out of the IRMCT compound. 10. Respond to safety and security emergencies in accordance with the standing operation procedures, applicable policies, and security plans. 11. Ensures that all offices, stores, meeting/conference rooms, and gates in the area of responsibility are secured at all times. 12. Perform other duties as required by the Chief SSS. Qualifications/special skillsA high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the civilian police force, military, or security-related field is required. Prior experience with the UN system or an international organization is desirable. Computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are desirable. Supplemental security management or related training is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations IRMCT. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Additional InformationIC contract against this post is on local basis and only nationals from The EU or external candidates who hold a valid (working) residence permit in The Netherlands may apply. The IC will be paid monthly at a hourly rate equivalent to EUR 35.29 for The Hague, The Netherlands. All duties are performed in uniform, however, at times the incumbent may be required to perform duties in civilian clothes. Duties may require long periods of standing and or foot patrolling. Must be willing to work at night, on weekends and holidays. Must be willing to undergo physical training in control and restraint techniques.
