    The office of the United Nations World Food Programme invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the vacancy below.

    Job Title : Communications, Partnership & Reporting Officer
    Duration : 1 year (renewable)
    Post Grade : National Officer Grade B

    JOB PURPOSE:

    To implement the communications plan by supporting and delivering a range of communications activities, providing research and analysis, and prioritizing effectively.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director and the overall supervision of the Country Director, the the Head of Partnership, Communication and Reporting will be responsible for the following duties.

    1. Implement country specific communication work plans designed to maintain and enhance the visibility and reputation of WFP, as well as support fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with overall communications and WFP strategies.

    2. Proactively contribute to a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling, data/trends analysis and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFPโ€™s work; ensure partners visibility and that partners conditions are met

    3. Contribute to communications through good research, analysis of assigned area of work and timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audience(s).

    4. Gather and share partner intelligence (including forecasting), using key information systems (e.g. Salesforce, WINGS, WFPGo).

    5. Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFPโ€™s work to the media, in order to support regular and appropriate communications.

    6. Solicit inputs from other functional entities, Regional Office (RO) and Country Office (CO) on WFPโ€™s programmatic offering that can gain traction with individual partner audiences, conduct analysis and draft quality briefs in support of outreach opportunities.

    7.Support the social media plan by developing social media content, and utilizing platforms, networks and partners to enhance coverage and support of WFPโ€™s activities.

    8.Generate donor specific visibility content including, text, photos, videos and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms, in order to support global and country fund raising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.

    9. Monitor and analyze traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.

    10. Provide inputs to partnerships strategies, including the development of Partnership Action Plans; Draw up quality partner proposals and reports by engaging with other WFP entities and external stakeholders.

    11.Guide, supervise and coach more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries.

    12.Support capacity building of WFP staff on all aspects of communication and resource mobilization, provides advice and guidance within area and level of expertise, in order to ensure that all activities meet desired standards of consistency, quality and impact. For example, the design and review of training materials.

    13. Collate outreach data and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports; support communications activities that enable informed decision making and ensures consistency of information presented to the media and other stakeholders.

    14. Manage fund raising cycle including concept note/proposal development processes in collaboration with the Programme teams to ensure that they are properly coordinated and consistent with internal programmes priorities, cross-cutting issues, donors priorities and requirements.

    15. Organize high level monitoring field visits/events for government and development partners.

    16 Manage a comprehensive database of donors and sub-grantees to facilitate tracking of partnerships and outreach to potential partners Liaise and interact with WFP staff and external counterparts to support aligned activities and a coherent approach to communications within WFP.

    17. Perform any other duty(ies) as required

    MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

    Advanced University degree in Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses

    DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

    1. A minimum of 3 years postgraduate professional progressive experience in Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications or related.

    2. Has gained experience in utilizing specialist communications techniques to enhance functional outputs.

    3. Has provided direction and instruction to more junior staff members within area of expertise

    LANGUAGE: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty stationโ€™s language, if different.
