ย Context
IOM Cyprus operates since 2020 the project Operation of Semi Independent Living Units for Unaccompanied Migrant Children which is fully funded by the Social Welfare Services of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare. Under this project since 2025 a new component has been added to set up and operate a 24 hour supervised emergency shelter provided to Unaccompanied children under 16 years offering specialized services.
Under theย direct supervision of theย Project Manager and in cooperation with the Administrative Associate (Shelter), and in the framework of the accommodation services for unaccompanied migrant children under 16, the Caregiver will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Provide care to migrant children residing in Pelendri.
- Build relationships of trust, cooperation and understanding with beneficiaries.
- Maintain security of accommodated children (including during night / weekends and public holidays if requested). In the event of a crisis or urgency, undertake incident management, inform other staff and/or the Shelter Administrator and receive relevant instructions.
- Assist the Project Assistant (Protection) in identifying and securing employment opportunities and independent housing for ageing out beneficiaries.
- Take care of childrenโs physical hygiene and clothing (distribution, needs, cleanliness), escorting children to social and/or medical services when necessary.
- Have an overview of the general hygiene and living conditions in accommodation rooms and based on the daily routines or regulations identified.
- Assist with the distribution of basic goods to children and notify the Shelter Administrator if further items and distributions are needed.
- Check the condition of food in case of provided meals and ensure that are served in the agreed times.
- Assist to organize and follow-up, in cooperation with other staff members, the childrenโs daily routine and structured daily activities, while also supporting educational and recreational activities.
- Contribute to the daily life and procedures of the semi-independent living units to create a supportive and protective environment, working individually and collectively with children.
- Facilitate that children take care of their own laundry on a regular basis.
- Assist the Project Assistant (Protection) to encourage a system of culturally sensitive behaviour and acceptance.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.ย Education
โข ย ย ย ย High School degree / certificate with three years of relevant work experience; or
โข ย ย ย ย Bachelorโs degree from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant working experience.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย Experience- At least one year of previous working experience.
- Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees or familiarity in working in a multi-cultural environment is desirable.
- Previous working experience with children or semi-independent living units is an advantage.Skills

Fluency in Englishย and Greek (written and oral) is required.
Any other IOM Official language is an advantage.ย

The accommodation facility will operate on a 24/7 basis, including weekends and public holidays.
