Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Associate Project Officer (Urban Development) is assigned in the Water and Urban Development Sector Office (SD2-WUD) within the Sectors Department 2 (SD2). SD2 aims to deliver impactful sector strategy, initiatives, and integrated solutions that advance ADBโs strategic agenda in the region. SD2, which is comprised of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office, SD2-WUD, and the Digital Sector Office: delivers or supports sovereign, nonsovereign, and advisory operations; delivers knowledge services; supports regional departments (RDs) and resident missions (RMs) in engaging with ADBโs developing member countries (DMCs); and ensures ADBโs technical leadership internally and externally.
SD2-WUD leads policy development and dialogue, knowledge management, project quality assurance, sector analytic work, and loan and technical assistance (TA) processing and administration in the water and urban development sectors. You will be based at our India Resident Mission in New Delhi.
You will have a primary reporting line to the designated Technical International Staff or Director, SD2-WUD on operational and policy-related matters and have a matrix reporting line to the Country Director, INRM on day-to-day administrative matters.
The selected candidate will be appointed with the title, \"Associate Project Officer\".
Your Role
As an Associate Project Officer (Urban Development), you will provide technical and operational support, and inputs in general administration, portfolio management, project administration, and project processing activities related to loans and TA projects for water and urban development (WUD) sector. This includes engaging in sector dialogue with the government, development partners, and civil society in India.
You will:
- Co-lead, and/or support the processing, implementation, and administration of investment projects, TA projects, and assist in portfolio management and sector work and activities, focusing on the WUD Sector
Qualifications
You will need:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, engineering, public administration, or related disciplines; preferably with advanced training. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in portfolio management, project administration, budget preparation/monitoring, and/or project processing activities related to loans and TA projects. Familiar with good industry practices and guidelines within area of expertise. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills. Sound understanding of ADB procedures and practices related to TA and loan/grant project processing and administration, including safeguards compliance. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency with computer-based applications. Please refer to the link for ADB Competency Framework for TL4.Benefits

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
This opening is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of India.
Selected applicants will be subject to a one-year probationary period.
This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew, initially for a period of up to 3 years, or up to the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes earlier, for the purpose(s) and conditions determined by ADB, in accordance with Administrative Order No. 2.01 (Recruitment and Appointment). After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 3 years or not renewed. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB, based on factors including but not limited to the requirement of Staffโs particular blend of skills and experience for the medium-term work program of the organizational unit, sufficient funding to cover the renewed period, and Staffโs performance and suitability for employment. There is no limit to the number of renewals up to NRD. However, this appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment.
