Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Associate Project Officer (Urban Development) is assigned in the Water and Urban Development Sector Office (SD2-WUD) within the Sectors Department 2 (SD2). SD2 aims to deliver impactful sector strategy, initiatives, and integrated solutions that advance ADBโs strategic agenda in the region. SD2, which is comprised of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office, SD2-WUD, and the Digital Sector Office: delivers or supports sovereign, nonsovereign, and advisory operations; delivers knowledge services; supports regional departments (RDs) and resident missions (RMs) in engaging with ADBโs developing member countries (DMCs); and ensures ADBโs technical leadership internally and externally.
SD2-WUD leads policy development and dialogue, knowledge management, project quality assurance, sector analytic work, and loan and technical assistance (TA) processing and administration in the water and urban development sectors. You will be based at our Pacific Subregional Office in Suva, Fiji.
You will have a primary reporting line to the designated Technical International staff or Director, SD2-WUD on operational and policy-related matters and have a matrix reporting line to the Regional Director, SPSO on day-to-day administrative matters.
The selected candidate will be appointed with the title, \"Associate Project Officer\".
Your Role
As an Associate Project Officer (Urban Development), you will provide technical and operational support, and inputs in general administration, portfolio management, project administration, and project processing activities related to loans and TA projects for water and urban development (WUD) sector. This includes engaging in sector dialogue with the government, development partners, and civil society in the Pacific countries.
You will:
- Co-lead, and/or support the processing, implementation, and administration of investment projects, TA projects, and assist in portfolio management and sector work and activities, focusing on the WUD Sector.
Qualifications
You will need:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, engineering, science, public administration, or related disciplines; preferably with advanced training. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in delivering water and urban development infrastructure projects, contracts management, project design and administration,,. Familiar with good industry practices and guidelines within area of water and urban development. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills. This vacancy is a regional staff position with local remuneration package. It is open to nationals and permanent residents residing in the duty station, Fiji Islands, and ADB member countries in the Pacific region such as Australia, Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, New Zealand, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (โRecruitment and Appointmentโ). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may be renewed for a period of up to three years, or not renewed. There is no limit on the number of renewals. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
