The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG), Communication Department (COM), Media Division (MEDIA), Strategic Priorities and Messaging Unit (SPM) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Associate) Media Officer*.

This is a full-time position at grade 4/5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

You will contribute to shaping and implementing communication activities in line with the corporate communication strategy, in order to increase awareness and understanding of the EIB Groupโ€™s activities, and to protect and enhance the institutionโ€™s external identity and reputation thus contributing to the achievement of the EIB Groupโ€™s objectives.

Operating Network

The Communication Department (COM) ensures the EIB Groupโ€™s activities are known and valued by its stakeholders and the public. It ensures the EIB Group engages with them in an open and accountable way whilst working to maximise the public visibility of the institution over different channels and audiences.

You will report to the Head of Strategic Priorities and Messaging Unit, in the Media Relations Division, and work closely with various colleagues in the other Division and parts of the Communication Department. Internal contacts are members of the Management Committee and their advisors; staff from the Operations and Projects Directorates, external offices and other directorates involved in relevant projects or issues. External contacts are journalists, staff of EU institutions, financial institutions and national counterparts, opinion formers across Europe.

Accountabilities

Engage in communication activities for the EIB Group, conveying the priorities and key messages of the EIB Group to journalists, influencers and stakeholders in assigned policy areas and all over Europe. Promote the EIB Groupโ€™s core investment priorities, included in the Strategic Roadmap adopted in 2024, as well as the Corporate Operational Plan, Public Policy Goals, and key policy decisions adopted by the EIB and the EIFโ€™s Boards.Organise events, press conferences and project financing signature announcements, and produce press material for these activities, cooperating closely with EIB Groupโ€™s services and other stakeholders.Prepare briefings for EIB Groupโ€™s leadership. Plan and help execute tailored campaigns, in collaboration with regional media officers, the audiovisual and social media units and colleagues from across the Communication Department, as well as local EIB Group offices. Liaise with communication counterparts in EU institutions and other stakeholders and partners, and coordinate communication of policies relating to the EIB Group. Closely follow national and EU policies in the assigned policy areas and proactively prepare EIB Groupโ€™s response to such policies, while highlighting and promoting its strategic role in implementing them, in close collaboration with the Permanent Representation of the EIB Group in Brussels, and EIB Groupโ€™s services.Promote EIB Groupโ€™s experts and senior management as thought leaders in their areas of expertise, including by proactively arranging interviews and other media engagements. In close collaboration with the Publishing Division, promote EIB Groupโ€™s publications, including in-house economic research and thematic publications, leveraging also audiovisual and social media channels in coordination with respective units.

Qualifications

University Degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably oriented towards communication, public relations, political sciences, finance and business, or economic. At least 3 years of relevant work experience with a focus on strategic communications, institutional affairs, media and/or public relationsExcellent skills in communicating with different public audiences (including high level stakeholders) and knowledge of channels to reach our audiencesHighly developed oral and written communication skillsSome experience in social media and audiovisual is preferredGood knowledge of the EU institutional and political frameworkGood understanding of EU economy and/or of the banking sectorA good understanding of current economic and political debates generally and especially in the EU Knowledge of the EIB Groupโ€™s mission and its activitiesExperience in dealing with sensitive and confidential information Proficiency with common software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint Excellent knowledge of English and French (**). Knowledge of other EU languages, especially Italian, Spanish and/or German, would be distinct advantage
