Staying on Track is more than just a program — it’s a place where potential is nurtured, hope is renewed, and young people are empowered to build brighter futures. Tailored for young people transitioning from youth detention back into community life, this targeted initiative offers wraparound support through youth and family workers. We work closely with local mentors and community leaders to foster reintegration and long-term wellbeing. Through structured guidance, cultural engagement, and access to essential services, participants are supported in pursuing education, employment, and personal growth opportunities.

In this full-time permanent role, you’ll work with young people aged 10-17 who are transitioning from detention back to their communities. Based in Mount Isa, you’ll be part of the multidisciplinary Staying on Track team, and will report to the Team Leader.

You have a passion for assisting young people leaving detention to reach their full potential, and for redirecting them from the Youth Justice system, by ensuring their voice is central to goal setting. You’re resilient, not afraid of a challenge, and importantly you’re comfortable working in remote and rural settings.
