Video Editing Intern - Solomon Islands Program
BACKGROUND
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM), is implementing the Strengthening Inclusive Adaptation Capacity in Solomon Islands (SIAC-SI) Project. The initiative aims to strengthen the countryโs ability to adapt to climate change through comprehensive climate risk and vulnerability assessments, development and implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and enhanced resource mobilization, contributing to long-term climate resilience and sustainable development in the Solomon Islands.
GGGI is inviting applications for an internship position within the Solomon Islands Country Program to support ongoing work under the SIAC-SI Project.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Video Editing Intern to support the Solomon Islands Country Program with video editing and multimedia production activities.
The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
- Work closely with the SIAC-SI Program Team to support day-to-day video editing tasks and multimedia production needs.
- Capture and edit raw footage from workshops, field missions, consultations, and community engagements into polished videos for reports, social media, and awareness activities.
- Produce short highlight videos, recap reels, interviews, and human-interest stories showcasing community experiences with climate change.
- Support filming during national, provincial, and community-level activities, including setting up shots, capturing interviews, and gathering b-roll.
- Organize and manage video and photo files, ensuring proper naming, storage, and backup systems for the SIAC-SI digital library.
- Produce short social-media-friendly videos tailored for Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms used by Solomon Islanders.
- Assist with reviewing and applying GGGI branding and communication guidelines to all multimedia products.
- Stay informed about climate change issues, community resilience stories, and local news relevant to SIAC-SI, using this understanding to strengthen visual storytelling.
- Provide support for broader GGGI Pacific multimedia and video communication initiatives as needed.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelorโs (final year), Masterโs or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Instituteโs work.
- Possess an excellent command of English.
QUALIFICATION
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months) from a program related to Media Studies, Film Production, Digital Journalism, Communication, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Skills in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
- Creativity in visual storytelling and turning raw footage into compelling narratives.
- Familiarity with camera operation, basic filming techniques, and photography is an advantage.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms.
- Strong organizational skills for managing media files and editing timelines.
- Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Solomon Islands Pijin is an advantage for community interviews.
- Demonstrate commitment to complete the full internship duration as agreed with supervisors.
- Strong interest in climate issues, digital storytelling, and environmental communication.
- Based in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
- Preferably has their own computer.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
- GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
- Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
