ContextThe India Country Office is currently implementing its 10th Country Programme (CP-10), which envisions an India where every woman and young person, especially those from vulnerable and marginalized communities, enjoys gender equality, can fully realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights, and actively contributes to sustainable development. Aligned with the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022โ2025, the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), and the 2030 Agenda, CP-10 focuses on achieving the three transformative results: โ Ending preventable maternal deaths โ Ending the unmet need for family planning โ Ending gender-based violence and harmful practices In this context, the UNV Digital Communications Specialist will support UNFPAโs communications efforts to enhance its visibility, engage wider audiences, and promote the impact of its work through digital storytelling, content creation and strategic social media and influencer engagement. To support the Communications Unit in day-to-day digital communications, including content creation, social media coordination with the digital agency, influencer and celebrity consultant, and internal team members. The UNV will contribute to UNFPA Indiaโs digital presence by assisting in the execution of the digital and influencer marketing strategy, managing timely social media rollouts, tracking social media growth and enhancing public engagement. This includes producing mobile-friendly, high-quality reels and photographs, basic audiovisual editing, and ensuring effective and consistent engagement with partners and audiences across UNFPA Indiaโs digital platforms.
Task DescriptionA. Digital and Social Media Management โ Support the daily management of UNFPA Indiaโs social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) by scheduling, posting and monitoring content. โ Coordinate closely with internal teams, UNFPA State Offices, and programme colleagues to gather stories, photos, and updates for content planning. โ Bring fresh ideas while packaging content in a highly engaging mode leading to higher retention of the content โ Liaise with the Digital Agency for content development, approvals, and timely rollouts. โ Support the communications team in ideation, conceptualisation, key messaging, creative route and execution of UNFPA India campaigns โ Support in assessing paid campaigns and growth strategy under guidance. Understanding of Google and Meta Analytics is a bonus. โ Track and report monthly on key metrics (reach, engagement, followers) using platform insights and tools along with key observations. โ Monitor trends, content and creative strategies and feed it back to strengthen the digital strategy and improve the performance of UNFPA India social media channels โ Be hands-on with reel/shorts making and editing preferably any of the AI or design tools (Canva, InShot, Premier Pro etc) . B. Content Creation and Storytelling โ Assist in the development of high-quality multimedia content โ images, reels, carousels, stories โ tailored for different platforms. โ Conduct on-the-job phone shoots and edit simple field-based videos. โ Support in documenting UNFPA Indiaโs programmes through field stories, testimonials, and short-form videos. โ Coordinate with partners, influencers, and content creators to gather assets or facilitate joint campaigns. โ Devise and develop compelling visual concepts to effectively communicate key messages across stories, programmes, campaigns, and thematic content C. Website Support โ Assist the team in updating the India Country Office website with relevant content: programme updates, publications, media releases, campaign content, etc. โ Suggest new ideas to implement on India CO in dissemination of stories/ programmes/ campaigns or thematic content within the possibility of the domain. D. Liaison and Coordination โ Provide coordination support to the Digital Agency and Creative Vendors, including content reviews, feedback loops, and version management in guidance of the communications team. โ Work closely with the Communications Specialist/Communications Analyst to deliver the influencer strategy โ Network with youth influencers and drive the engagement with them for UNFPA campaigns โ Support logistics, backend prep and social media amplification for key International Days and UNFPA events. Deliverables: โ Day-to-day social media content coordination and posting across UNFPA platforms โ Monthly digital performance report (basic metrics + trend insights) โ Support in execution of UNFPA India Campaigns annually โ Coordination with the digital agency and monitoring of quality deliverables โ Support in onboarding and managing influencers for UNFPA India campaigns โ Regular updates on UNFPA India website โ Field-based content (photos, short reels) contributed for monthly calendars and campaigns in coordination with State team โ Monthly curation and idea pitching of new formats, trends, or interactive content for Instagram Reels, Stories, etc.

Living conditions and remarksNew Delhi is the national capital of India and is situated in the central part of India. The city is home to thousands of businesses and international companies and embassies, making it very cosmopolitan in nature, and culturally rich. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in New Delhi. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions. The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
