ContextThis assignment consists of the translation from English to Chinese of a funding proposal developed by WHO Mauritania. The proposal is intended for submission to the Government of China through its official development cooperation channel. The translation must ensure accuracy, consistency of technical terminology, and a formal, diplomatic tone suitable for official communication with a governmental institution. Cultural sensitivity and familiarity with public health and development cooperation vocabulary are essential for the success of this task.
Task DescriptionThe online volunteer will be responsible for providing a complete and accurate translation of the funding proposal document from English to Chinese. The document is approximately 35 pages and includes a narrative proposal, budget justification, logical framework, and several technical annexes (5 annexes). Key responsibilities include: Translating the full content of the proposal with attention to technical terminology related to public health, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), and international development. Ensuring that the tone remains formal, diplomatic, and aligned with official communications addressed to a government entity. Preserving the formatting and structure of the original document where relevant. Conducting a final quality check to ensure linguistic and conceptual accuracy. The final translated document must be ready for submission to Chinese governmental authorities, and thus requires the highest level of linguistic precision and contextual understanding.
