ContextUN Women Jordan regularly produces a range of communications materials including news articles, social media posts, programmatic updates, and advocacy stories in both Arabic and English. To ensure broad accessibility and visibility across local and international audiences, high-quality translation is essential. This assignment seeks online volunteer support to translate and edit key content with gender-sensitive, accurate, and culturally relevant language. Skills Gained by the Volunteer: Real-world translation experience for a UN agency. Deeper understanding of gender-sensitive language. Improved editing and bilingual communication skills. Exposure to storytelling and advocacy work within international development.

Task DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Head of Communications of UN Women Jordan, the 10 online volunteers will be divided into two groups and do the following task: Translation group (8 volunteers): Translate written content from Arabic to English or vice versa. Proofreading group (2 volunteers) Edit and polish translated material for clarity, fluency, and tone. Ensure use of gender-sensitive and contextually appropriate terminology. Maintain accuracy, consistency, and alignment with UN Women editorial standards. Final deliverables: translating 4 documents; two volunteers per document.
