Job Summary:ย ย
You will provide technical advice and supportย to a range of program design and implementation issuesย in the area ofย FILMA project and all CRS activities within the Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapes portfolioย in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practicesย to Country Program (CP) teams to advance the delivery of high-quality programming to the poor and vulnerable. Your advice, knowledge, and supportย will contribute to determining how effective, adaptive and innovative CRS Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapes programming is across the globe.ย This position will report to the Program Director for Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapes and will be based in Tamale with frequent travel to the field.ย
Roles and Key Responsibilities:ย
ย Support the development and contribute to the implementation of agency-wide strategies, standards, tools and best practices inย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapeseffectively engage partners, donors,ย and governments.ย Help ensure a cross-sectoral approach integrating gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction. Provide technical solutions to CP teams, remotely and on-site, for strategic planning and how to best apply standards, best practices, partnership principles,ย tools and M&E, helping to ensure high-quality implementation. Contribute to, and in some cases lead, the development of the technical design for proposals.ย Support the process of preparation, design, submission and approval of project concepts and full-fledged proposals. As needed, act as a technical writer on proposal development teams. Advise project teams on integrating donor strategies, priorities and technical requirements into CRSโ approach. Support capacity strengthening initiatives inย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapesย programming for staff and partners through helping develop learning and training strategies and agendas/curriculums, conducting trainings and workshops, and coaching. Collect and analyze program data, capture and share lessons learned and best practices for specific projects to facilitate improvements in decision-making and contribute to theย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapesย learning agenda. Contribute to maintaining relationships with donors, peer organizations, research and other institutions, participate in forums in the area ofย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapesย to collect and share bestย practices and promote CRSโ work. Provide technical guidance to lead activities supporting commercialization and access to finance for smallholder farmers through promotion of VSLAs and SILCs, access to mobile money, and financial education and literacy training.ย Actively participate in CRS regional and global COP activities on Ag, livelihood and Landscape including SCP3 platform discussion. Provide technical support for community mapping activities, including community-based agribusiness dealer mapping and financial services provider mapping, as well as mapping to strengthen value chain development and Private Agriculture Service Provider (PASP) and Community-Based Agent (CBA) modelsBasic Qualificationsย
Masterโs degree in agriculture, Livelihoods or, rural and/or community development or any other relevant professional background in agriculture required. Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with progressive responsibilities, ideally withย an international NGO, with minimum of two years relevant field-based experience inย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapesย Knowledge of technical principles and concepts inย Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapes General knowledge of other related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach. Experience in project design and proposal development. Experience in writing content for proposals. Knowledge of capacity strengthening best practices. Experience with program monitoring and evaluation and analysis. Experience and skillsย in networking and relations with donors, peer organizations, and faith-based and civil society partners.
