Context:

Established in 1951, IOM is a related organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.

Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia works on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

Throughout the years, IOM has gained expertise and capacity to address national and regional migration issues. Its collaboration network covers a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to ASEAN Member States, IOM regional Country Offices, governmental and non-governmental institutions of Indonesia, etc. The working scope of IOM has several thematic areas such as counter- trafficking and protection, disaster climate and resilience, immigration and border governance, labour mobility and social inclusion, refugee care and assistance, resettlement and assisted voluntary return and reintegration.

Under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer and overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, theย Seniorย Projectย Associate will be responsible to support the coordination, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and visibility work of climate migration project activities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities.ย Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics,ย highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with inter-organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.Draft project reports according to workplan in a timely fashion; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.ย Develop visibility strategy and correspondent documents for the programme.ย Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments as necessary.ย  ย Draft correspondence on project issues; briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.ย Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.ย Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

University degree from an accredited university in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Climate finance, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant work experience, orCompleted High School degree with six years of relevant work experience.ย

EXPERIENCE

Indonesian National with good knowledge and understanding of the migration policies and issues, as well as climate change related programme landscape in Indonesia;Professional experience in project implementation and coordination, donor liaison, operations, administration, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation is an advantage.Experience in working on migration & climate context, including climate resilience and disaster response, as intervention party as well as beneficiary.Experience in liaising with government authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.Experience in working with migrant workers, refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantageExperience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
