ย Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the ย Head of Bihac Office and the National Project Officer (NPO), the Project Assistant will coordinate the implementation of project activities and identify new community engagement and social cohesion opportunities under IOMโs resilience and social cohesion portfolio in the area covered by Bihac office.
- Assist in coordination of implementation of the project related to improving resilience and social cohesion in communities.ย
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.ย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.ย
- Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
- Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.ย
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;ย
- Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities withย local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.ย
- Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
- Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.ย
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- High school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Proven experience and knowledge in project cycle management coordination and staff supervisionย
- Understanding of issues local communities in BiH are facing related to the peacebuilding and trust building
- Proven experience in cooperation with governments at all levels, and public institutions at the local level
- Experience related to youth empowerment, inclusion, and participation, and/or community development
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- Proven experience on preparation of written reports in an accurate and concise manner
- Knowledge of the social, political, and economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with specific focus on peacebuilding and trust building
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the gender perspectives in different areas of work within IOM.
Languages- ย Fluency in English and Bosnian.
