Mission and objectivesUNDP works in more than 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We help countries develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience to sustain development results. UNDP has been present in Malawi since 1964. Working closely with the Government of Malawi, civil society and the private sector, UNDP' s work aims to contribute to economic growth, sustainable environmental management, and democratic governance and accountability in Malawi. UNDPโs Country Programme Document is closely aligned to the Malawi Agenda 2063 and supports Malawiโs aim to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. UNDP โs programme is designed to address the interlinked issues of poverty, inequality and vulnerability to shocks and is managed within two portfolios: Responsive Institutions and Citizen Engagement which works towards strengthening effective, accountable and inclusive governance that promotes civic engagement, respect for human rights, rule of law, peace and democracy. It also works towards strengthening data generation and analysis. Resilience and Sustainable Growth which focusses on enhancing economic innovation, inclusive business, job creation, and renewable energy access. It also works towards helping Malawi adapt to climate change and build resilience to disasters.
ContextYouthConnekt Africa is a Pan-African platform that empowers young people through knowledge sharing, skills development, and engagement in policy and innovation dialogues. The 2025 Malawi National Youth Summit is aligned with YouthConnektโs mission to provide youth with platforms for policy influence and innovation showcase. To support documentation and knowledge capture during the Malawi Youth Summit (July 2โ4, 2025), YouthConnekt Africa is seeking 7 online volunteers to serve as Rapporteurs. Volunteers will document key messages, outcomes, and high-level insights from various sessions, contributing to post-event reporting, media summaries, and institutional memory.
Task DescriptionThe Online Volunteers will: 1. Attend and document all assigned sessions virtually, including: o Opening and Closing Ceremonies o Keynote Addresses and Ministerial Panels o Parallel Breakout Sessions (7 per day) o Innovation Tours and Exhibitions o Youth-Led Dialogues and Special Interest Groups 2. Produce accurate and well-structured summaries that highlight: o Key messages o Action points o High-impact quotes 3. Collaborate with moderators and facilitators to validate notes. 4. Submit daily session recaps and final reports based on a provided framework. 5. Maintain backup transcripts of proceedings.
