    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

    The Pacific region faces significant vulnerability to natural disasters, with Pacific Island Countries (PICs) among the most exposed globally due to climate change and rising sea levels. Since 2015, WFP has supported governments and partners in the Pacific to strengthen disaster preparedness and response capacities. This includes enhancing coordination mechanisms in logistics, emergency telecommunications, and food security, as well as improving data and cash preparedness.

    WFP's Supply Chain engagement in the Pacific spans both direct emergency response and capacity strengthening. Through its Country Capacity Strengthening (CCS) approach, WFP works to empower national systems and institutions to independently manage food security and logistics operations. The CCS framework addresses three domainsโ€”enabling environment, organizational capacity, and individual skillsโ€”through five pathways: policy and legislation, institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, programme delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

    To support WFPโ€™s work on Supply Chain Country Capacity Strengthening, the Pacific multi-country office is recruiting the position of Supply Chain Officer โ€“ Country Capacity Strengthening to be based in Suva, Fiji, with travel across the Pacific region.

    The Supply Chain Officer โ€“ Country Capacity Strengthening will operate under the supervision of the Head of Supply Chain and work across units to support the implementation of the Country Capacity Strengthening deliverables and technically leading on specific projects including the Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Programme.
