ContextThe International Youth Council – Yemen (IYCY) is a youth-led organization committed to empowering young people through civic engagement, advocacy, and development initiatives. In the face of complex socio-political challenges and limited institutional inclusion, youth in Yemen and the wider Arab region often lack structured opportunities to participate in public dialogue and influence policymaking. To address this gap, IYCY is seeking the support of an Online Volunteer to develop a short, strategic planning document that consolidates best practices and generates actionable insights for enhancing youth participation. The strategy will directly inform IYCY’s advocacy campaigns, capacity-building programs, and partnerships with government and civil society actors. This assignment contributes to the broader goals of inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and youth empowerment in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By contributing to this initiative, the Online Volunteer will help ensure that youth voices are recognized as drivers of change in national and regional policy spaces.

Task DescriptionAs an Online Volunteer, you will support the International Youth Council-Yemen (IYCY) in developing a short strategic planning document (3–5 pages) to enhance youth civic engagement in Yemen and the Arab region. This assignment focuses on strategic planning for youth participation in public life, policymaking, and advocacy. Your responsibilities will include: Mapping and briefly profiling at least 10 youth-led initiatives across the Arab region; Compiling key online resources, toolkits, and platforms related to youth civic engagement; Proposing 3 practical, context-specific, and actionable ideas to strengthen youth participation in policy dialogue and decision-making processes. The final strategy document will contribute to IYCY’s ongoing advocacy and program development efforts, aligning with global goals such as SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Your work will support inclusive governance by amplifying the role of youth in shaping their communities and futures.
