    Note: The role requires technical expertise in vehicle and machinery parts and maintenance activities; this is not related to Non-food-item (NFI) management or warehouse management but demands hands-on understanding of automotive/mechanical systems.

    What will you do in this position?

    The Spare Parts Storekeeper is a key member of the Logistics Special Operations (LSO) team. He/She is responsible for managing and safeguarding a wide range of items including fleet truck spare parts, lubricants, tyres, workshop tools, consumables, and cargo safety protection equipment and ensuring the availability and proper management of all materials required for fleet maintenance and operational safety.

    Background elements to the (LSO):

    Given the complexity of the logistics operation in Gaza, and to ensure timely delivery, the WFPโ€™s Gaza Supply Chain Unit has streamlined its activities through the LSO (Logistics Special Operations) team. The aim of the LSO unit is to provide integrated solutions to achieve critical operational success by augmenting the logistics delivery capacity through non-conventional transport modalities and innovative solutions i.e., Armoured Vehicles, and WFP Fleet. The LSO unit will coordinate and constantly plan response actions with operations team / partners and other concerned stockholders and act as a reserve capacity for complex or time critical operational requirements. For any complex response, the LSO team will evaluate the urgency of the operational requirement, potential financial impact, safety and security concerns.

    In addition, the LSO team will continue to ensure Supply Chain cost optimization by undertaking initiatives including the rehabilitation, design and/or implementation of infrastructures and, if needed, the opening of additional supply routes; upgrade and improvement of infrastructures and their access; and carry out assessments to identify solutions to logistical challenges.

    How can you make a difference?

    Under the supervision of the Workshop Manager, the Storekeeper (Spare Parts) will contribute to the efficient operation of the parts store and support the overall functionality of the workshop. Specifically, the job holder is responsible for:

    • Managing and maintaining inventory of spare parts, lubricants, tyres, batteries, workshop tools, and consumables.
    • Ensuring all items are accurately registered in the Fleet Management System (FMS).
    • Organizing and storing items on the correct stock shelves by category, using bin cards for easy identification and tracking.
    • Reporting regularly on stock levels to the Workshop Manager to ensure timely replenishment of stock, considering potential delays in lead time.
    • Receiving and inspecting incoming parts and supplies to ensure quality and accuracy.
    • Verifying incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
    • Assisting customers in identifying and selecting the appropriate Spare parts and accessories.
    • Providing expert advice and recommendations based on technical knowledge.
    • Maintaining accurate records of inventory, sales, and purchases using computerized systems or manual logs.
    • Preparing and maintaining a variety of records related to store activities.
    • Following proper handling and storage procedures for hazardous materials.
    • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Keeping the store clean and organized, including shelves, displays, and work areas.
    • Conducting routine stock checks and audits to maintain accurate inventory levels.
    • Collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
    • Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s).

      To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have:

      Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate is desirable. Additional certifications in inventory and parts management or in the related functional area is desirable.

      Experience: Minimum four (04) years of progressively responsible experience in auto mechanics, maintenance and repairs of light vehicles and trucks/machineries, spare parts management. Specifically:

      Technical Knowledge & Skills:

      • Proven stock management skills, including categorization, bin card maintenance, and accurate record-keeping.
      • Strong knowledge of spare parts, Lubricants, tools, consumables and accessories, with familiarity across different specifications based on truck brands and models.
      • Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
      • Good knowledge of Spare part, tools, accessories, familiar withs different specs based on the Brand/ Make of trucks and stock management skills
      • Good understanding in inventory system to track parts and supplies efficiently,
      • Customer service skills to assist customers in identifying and selecting the right parts

        Language: Fluency (level C) in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.
