Our Work In Sierra Leone:

Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview

The Store Assistant will support the Pharmacy Technician by overseeing the daily KGH store activities, ensuring that processes are followed accurately, and maintaining accurate records of inventory, filing, and utilizing complete stock management tools and systems according to set standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Key responsibilities:
• Receive and store appropriately drugs, medical consumables and supplies, laboratory reagents and consumables managed under Koidu Government Hospital Pharmacy store,
• Provide high-quality customer service to program requestors.
• Ensure that every single product transaction in stock is well recorded and updated in Openboxes, eLMIS-management system, and on respective paper-based stock card
• File stock cards of the stocked out items systematically.
• Regularly monitor refrigerators and room temperatures to ensure medicines and stock are kept at appropriate conditions.
• Follow good picking practices and ensure all items are properly stored in their designated bin locations after picking.
• Ensure that inventory is rotated according to the FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles to minimize expiries.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the warehouse
• Track all expired pharmaceutical inventory through the inventory control system to ensure that no expired products remain on shelves/pallets.
• Alert the Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Technician about potential shortages or stock-outs of products anticipated.
• Collaborate closely with the Stores Pharmacy technician and other team members to ensure smooth operations, including any planned physical inventory checks.
• Ensure all shipments are thoroughly checked before leaving the warehouse.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

  Education and Work Experience Requirements

  Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to follow established processes and experience implementing process improvements.
  • Knowledge about the good storage practice of pharmaceutical products and other health commodities
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries.
  • Openness to change and willingness to explore new ideas; adapting to different situations and being open-minded
  • Adhering to moral and ethical principles in all actions and decisions, demonstrating integrity and honesty in professional and personal interactions.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.
  • Proven ability to learn new electronic management Information systems (e-LMIS) quickly.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with international pharmaceutical and/or medical warehouse operations
    • Interest in social justice.

      Qualification:

      • High school diploma or equivalent with a proven certificate or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
      • Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably in a medical or humanitarian organization.
      • Knowledge of fundamental warehouse operations and inventory control procedures.
