Job Summary:
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a Staff Accountant I to provide general accounting support in the Finance Department. This position is a 1-year renewable, non-exempt appointment and will report to the Controller. This position is based at IFPRI Headquarters located in Washington, DC.
Essential Duties:
Purchase Order Management: Review, verify, and enter purchase orders (POs) accurately into Costpoint, ensuring alignment with internal procedures and budgets. Vendor Setup & Maintenance: Set up and maintain vendor profiles in Costpoint, ensuring accuracy and compliance Reconciliations: Perform timely monthly reconciliations for Euro and GBP bank and investment accounts. Accurately record realized and unrealized investment gains/losses, dividends, and fees, while proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies. Document for Deltek (D4D): troubleshoot document workflows in D4D. Payroll Processing Support: Act as a backup for payroll processing, assisting with timely and accurate payroll submissions. Support Payments: Assist with resolving compliance inquiries concerning international wire transfers through Conver, and domestic ACHs, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements. Month-End Close & Reporting: Assist with month-end closing dashboards; follow up with international country offices and hub teams on outstanding Field Expense Reports to ensure complete and accurate reporting. Cash Flow: Assist with preparing daily cash position reports and weekly cash flow forecasts for the Controller and the Director of Administration and Finance Documentation & Records Management: Upload and maintain payment confirmations and other financial records within D4D for audit and compliance purposes. System Administration Support: Provide support to the Controller for administrative functions in Costpoint and Cognos; coordinate with Deltek support and external consultants to resolve system issues. Project & Ad Hoc Support: Assist the Controller with special projects and process improvements as needed. Additional Duties: Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned to support departmental goals.Required Qualifications:
Bachelorโs degree in Accounting; or associateโs degree plus three years of relevant experience; or high school diploma plus four years of relevant experience. Knowledge of international banking and currency reconciliation. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Familiarity with accounting software platforms. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to consistently process high volume of transactions. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work productively within a multi-cultural team environment.Physical Demand & Work environment:

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this job requisition is between $48,600 โ $59,600. In determining your salary, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors.

IFPRI Washington D.C. has a hybrid work environment that allows staff members a minimum of two days (preference for 3 days) in-office work and the remaining two to three days remote work.
