Work LocationNepal Expected duration16 June 25-15 Jan 26 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UN RCO) in Nepal works under the strategic guidance of the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) and supports the UN Country Team (UNCT) in the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UN RCO fulfils the following five key functions in support of the responsibilities of the RC and the UNCT including Strategic planning, Development economics, Partnerships and development finance, Data and results management and reporting and Research, communications and advocacy. The UN RCO and UNCT work closely with the Government of Nepal and other Development Partners to support Nepal in achieving Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The UN RCO team supports the RC and UNCT in ensuring a more coordinated and coherent approach across the work of the UN and is composed of experts in development and humanitarian coordination, information management, human rights, gender equality and communications. The UNRCO internship is for six months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (more than 35 hours). Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the National Information Officer (NIO) the Social Media Intern will: • Participate in creative brainstorming for social media messages and campaigns and create bi-weekly social media content calendars for the UNCT accounts • Provide channel-specific ideas for the use of social media messages, videos, or photos and create creative and fun video concepts for the Facebook, and Instagram audience which is relatable to young people. • Provide support to map social media influencers in the region and identify opportunities to partner with at least 1 influencer in 2025 to promote UN Nepal’s key priorities. • Provide support to generate content for the Social Media platform and analyze its performance by preparing bi-weekly analytics and content reports capturing national trends, feedback from followers, social listening, opportunities, and challenges, and UNCT’s social media accounts performance. • Help maintain a repository of all social media-related multimedia (audio-visual and graphics). • Help monitor content performance on the UN Nepal social media channels and coordinate with the NIO to manage responses to questions and queries posted by followers diligently. • Under the supervision of the National Information Officer, engage with the Facebook and Instagram community daily within the UN Social Media Guidance • Contribute to the strategy, vision, and voice of the UNCT Social media channels. Conduct a qualitative report to identify themes and issues raised by people on the social media platform through analytics. • Provide support in other duties as required Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening (such as Media and Communications, Journalism, Digital Communications, and Social Science etc.) No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
