This position is located in the Communication Team within the Office of the Chief Executive of Pension Administration of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (โUNJSPFโ or โthe Fundโ) - Pension Administration. The Communication Team is responsible for communication with the Fund's constituents and for providing them with access to clear, correct and useful information regarding pension matters, including for participation and financial entitlements from the Fund. The Senior Public Information Assistant reports to the Public Information Officer, under the overall guidance of the Special Assistant to the Chief Executive of Pension Administration. This position is located in New York. Responsibilitiesโข Contributes to the development and production of communications products/services with minimal supervision. โข Collaborates substantively on publication activities designed to promote knowledge and understanding of and to build support for UNJSPF activities, to include delivery of discrete components of the unitโs work programme in social and mass media (e.g. newspapers, TV, radio, internet, etc.). โข Assists in the implementation of the UNJSPF communications strategy 2024-2028 and UNJSPF communication policy. โข Supports the organization of in-person and virtual events at corporate level for UNJSPF participants and retirees. โข Designs and distributes mass emails (newsletters, COLA updates, CE pre-suspension) to UNJSPF clients and stakeholders. โข Develops and maintains relationships with media and other official (e.g. NGOs, local community and government leaders, educational institutions, other UN agencies, etc.). โข Serves as a first-line focal point and/or media liaison to facilitate the flow of information and messages on all aspects of UNJSPF activities, policies and operations institution-wide in assigned area(s) and on matters relating to the Chief Executive of Pension Administration to key internal and external audiences. โข Maintains constant contact with key offices (e.g. UNJSPF Chief Executive of Pension Administration Deputy Chief Executive, Client Services, etc.); reviews relevant documents, reports, press releases, etc. to gather information and keeps abreast of the timing and substance of key meetings, events, speeches, activities, etc.; maintains files on key subjects before the UNJSPF and on the activities of the Chief Executive. โข Prepares briefs on assigned topics for senior officers; responds, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of routine questions and information requests on UNJSPF activities from the press, constituents and other parties; as appropriate forwards questions/requests to relevant parties for reply; drafts letters and official memoranda on a range of subjects. โข Researches, compiles and presents information from a variety of sources; including reviewing relevant pension and technological trends worldwide and identifying items of interest to the Chief Executive of Pension Administration, the Pension Board or senior UNJSPF officials. โข Coordinates and oversees the entire audio/visual marketing campaign under the supervision of the Public Information Officer. โข Serves as photo lab supervisor by establishing and maintaining an efficient production of photographic images in both digital and print formats. โข Supports film, video, and radio production through research, content recommendations, writing, interviews, production coordination, editing, and translation oversight. โข Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. โข Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. โข Performs other duties as assigned. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to eight (8) years for candidates who possess a first-level degree or higher. Experience with developing graphic materials and visuals for websites, publications and/or social media platforms is required. Experience with layout of publications in English and French is required. Proficiency with or certification in desk publishing software is desirable. Experience working in a pension fund, financial institution, or similar organization in roles involving client communication or dissemination of complex financial and administrative information is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in international organizations is desirable.
