The Program for Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research within the vaccine trial unit in multiple vaccine studies including RSV, Polio, HEV, and flu vaccine. This program aims to achieve the icddr,b goal of controlling enteric and respiratory infections, as well as detecting and controlling emerging and re-emerging infections, through collaboration with relevant government and non-government stakeholders.
The Senior Medical Officer will report to the Senior Scientist and will be responsible for Project Implementation, Supervision and Monitoring of clinical and field activities, including clinical management and staff training. S/he will be involved in -
Execute overall implementation of the clinical studies and disease surveillance as per the guidelines; Monitor and supervise sample and data collection at the study clinic and field; Maintain proper documentation and solve problems; Ensure quality data collection through proper monitoring, managing and supervising of Study staff; Work as a first touchpoint of the study to resolve any issues and provide feedback to the PI and management; Evaluate sick participants and give appropriate management/treatment as per protocol, and maintain patient documents/info using the prescribed questionnaire or EDC system; Provide staff training to ensure quality data and sample collection; Manage staff and guide/coach/mentor study team members to complete quality research on time; Regular follow-up of sick participants and assess improvement; Refer study participants to different hospitals as and when required; Maintain liaison with local hospitals/clinics, GoB, local leaders and stakeholders; Coordinate Vaccine trial monitoring activities and help to conduct CRO’s activities; Prepare and report Adverse events and SAEs as per the timeline; Guide clinical team to manage AEs and SAEs as per protocol; Coordinate national and international visitors and give orientation about different research Projects; Work with the Principal Investigators in developing proposals and research protocols; Support research team, coordinators and PI in preparing reports; Assess material requirements for the specific study for protocol execution; Critically assess data quality; Apply rigorous basic analysis to derive meaningful inferences from data; Prepare study reports for the donors and stakeholders; Field visit to enrol study participants.Required qualifications and experience:
MBBS degree from a reputed institution with valid BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) registration; At least 8 years of relevant experience;Location: Matlab, Chandpur District (Full Time)

Contract Type and duration:
Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.Salary & benefits:
Tk.165,232/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.Notes of attention:
