Org. Setting and ReportingThe temporary position is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Pursuant to Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), UNSOH has been mandated to provide support; primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces in the context of any joint operations with the GSF. Additionally, UNSOH is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). The incumbent manages the provision and coordination of logistics services in support of the operations of the mission and its clients including supply chain management, materials management, transportation, maintenance, contracts and services management; communications, information technology, engineering and medical services. The temporary position is based in Port-au-Prince and is located in the Office of the Director, Mission Support. The incumbent will report to the Chief, Service Delivery/Chief of Mission Support D1. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Senior Logistic Officer, P-5 will be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Exercises managerial and supervisory control over all logistics support required by future, current or liquidating field mission. โ€ข Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors overall logistic support plans including logistics forecasting, supply schedules, priorities or requirements, and resolution of urgent operational needs. โ€ข Monitors and coordinates all multifunctional logistic requirements between UN HQ and field mission. โ€ข Assists in the development of policy and procedures for logistics support. โ€ข Acts as the principal liaison between the field missions and Headquarters staff for logistics matters and coordinates day to day support of logistics operations. โ€ข Ensures overall planning and coordination of logistics support preparations for new field missions and expanded civilian and military field operations. โ€ข Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs. โ€ข Advises senior management on logistics management, structures and staffing levels to ensure that they are at all times adequate to meet the requirements of the logistics strategy. โ€ข Leads technical survey missions. โ€ข Organizes and chairs logistics meetings. โ€ข Manages and supervises an integrated civilian-military mission support organization. โ€ข Manages and coordinates a multifunctional logistics operation in the field. โ€ข Chairs or is a member of field mission administrative and financial bodies. โ€ข Assumes responsibilities of a certifying officer. โ€ข Performs other related duties as required. Work ExperienceA minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organization, or related areas is required. Experience in handling complex logistical and organizational issues at local and international level in the field mission environment is required. Experience in the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is required. Experience in managing a large multicultural team and multiple clients at country level is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English and French are required. Spanish is desirable.
