Background:
The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) is involved in a wide range of activities, ranging from arms control, counter-terrorism, and border management projects to disaster risk reduction, good governance, trafficking in human beings, and gender equality.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Executive Officer (SEO), the incumbent works in the POiDโs Communications and Reporting Unit (CRU) to to provide translation and interpretation support to the Head of Office (HoO), Deputy Head of Office (DHoO) and Office of Head of Office (OHoO) department. CRU is one of three units embedded in the department of the Office of Head of Mission (OHoM), supervised by the SEO.
The OHoM ensures coherence of programmatic support to project activities and coherence with the mandate of the OSCE POiD.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision of the Senior Executive Officer and overall supervision of Deputy Head of Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:
Providing quality interpretation for the meetings of the HoO and DHoO with relevant partners and beneficiaries, as needed;Providing high-level interpretation services, both consecutive and simultaneous, at high-level meetings, seminars, negotiations, side events, and discussions, other POiD events including one-to-one and group settings;Interpreting messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages, orally or by using hand signs, maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible;Providing written translation, as applicable, of legal, programme, and project documents, reports, administrative or technical documents, training material, speeches, correspondence, publications, social media and web-page posts, and forms, from local languages, Tajik, Russian, to English and vice versa;Editing and revising translated materials, checking translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout translation revisions; compiling terminology and ensuring translation accuracy throughout all Office documents/reports as requested by the supervisor;Reviewing translated material for accuracy of meaning, grammar, and syntax; answering inquiries from POiD mission members and individuals; and interpreting and explaining words and phrases for meaning and appropriateness;

Remuneration Package:
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 1,062.33 EUR. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
Appointments are normally made at Step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. In exceptional cases, an initial appointment at up to Step 3 may be considered. This depends on factors such as relevant experience exceeding minimum requirements or higher previous remuneration. Any such request by a candidate must be reviewed and approved by the OSCE before the appointment.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 62 years at the time of appointment as the incumbent selected is normally expected to carry out the contractual obligation of two years.
