Org. Setting and ReportingThe temporary position is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Pursuant to Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), UNSOH has been mandated to provide support; primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces in the context of any joint operations with the GSF. Additionally, UNSOH is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). The temporary position is based in Port-au-Prince and is located with the Safety and Security Section, Emergency Response Team. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the FS4 Security Officer (Emergency Response) will be responsible for the following duties in support of the missionโs mandate: โข Supports the implementation of mission security operations, ensuring effective emergency preparedness and timely response to incidents affecting UN personnel, premises, and operations across the mission area โข Assists in the evaluation accessible areas, maintain tracking systems and assist in the coordination of a 24-hour Emergency Response System; โข Contributes to security risk assessments for the area of operations; โข Maintains continuing lines of communication with security focal points and other UN or nonUN stake holders; โข Responds to security emergencies, including indirect and direct fire incidents, armed attacks, complex attacks, medical emergencies, and natural disasters, in accordance with mission security procedures. โข Conducts rapid situational assessments during emergencies, identifies immediate threats, recommends mitigation measures, and initiates emergency response actions in coordination with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and other security units. โข Provides support to emergency relocation, extraction, evacuation, and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC/MEDEVAC) operations, ensuring personnel accountability and adherence to โข Monitors Security equipment and ensures minimum equipment requirements are purchased, maintained and deployed in accordance with relevant policy; โข Contributes to security reporting requirements, including incident reports, situation summaries, post-incident reviews; โข Performs other duties as required. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required. Job - Specific QualificationRelevant United Nations training and valid certification in use of Glock 19 Pistol, MP5 sub machine gun and G 36 sub machine gun is required including the certification of IFAK and ETB. Work ExperienceA minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the military, police, security management or international security organization is required, including at least two yearsโ experience and exposure at the international level. At least one year of experience in a conflict and post conflict environment is required. Experience in the United Nations system is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French is desirable.
