Result of ServiceThe incumbent will be responsible for a feasible proposal for a sustainable project to be implemented in the school, submitted for approval by the SDG Stories team. Work LocationLebanon Expected duration3 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground: The SDG Stories Team was established by ESCWAโ€™s Executive Secretary to mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among young persons in the Arab region by using the โ€œESCWA Storiesโ€ comic book as an educational tool. Against this background, SDGs Advocates and Development Project Coordinators are needed to help conduct a training of trainers (ToT) in schools in Jordan, based on the โ€œESCWA storiesโ€ book. Duties and Responsibilities: โ€ข Participate in training sessions on the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, with a special focus on SDG 4.2, in preparation to train other teachers. โ€ข Train teachers on using the โ€œESCWA storiesโ€ comic book (volume I, II, III and IV) as an educational tool to raise the awareness of students on the work of the United Nations and SDGs. โ€ข Start a cooperative process between students and other SDGs Advocates to develop a proposal for a sustainable development project to be implemented at the school. โ€ข Supervise the implementation of the sustainable project, in close coordination with the SDG Stories Team. Qualifications/special skillsFor this position, a high-school diploma (or any higher degree) is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic is required. Note: โ€œFluencyโ€ equals a rating of โ€˜fluentโ€™ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and โ€œKnowledge ofโ€ equals a rating of โ€˜confidentโ€™ in two of the four areas.
