Organizational Setting
The Department of Safeguards carries out the IAEAโs duties and responsibilities as the worldโs nuclear inspectorate, supporting global efforts to stop the spread of nuclear weapons. The primary role of the Department is to develop and implement IAEA safeguards to ensure that there is no diversion of declared nuclear material from peaceful activities and no indications of undeclared nuclear material or activities in a State as a whole.ย
The Department comprises nuclear safeguards inspectors, responsible for carrying out inspections and verifications of all-safeguards relevant information for nuclear facilities in over 180 States; and technical staff responsible for a wide range of activities including: developing concepts and approaches for implementing safeguards; developing and maintaining safeguards equipment; providing analytical and laboratory services for sample analysis; collecting, evaluating and analysing safeguards-relevant information; providing information and communication technology infrastructure and services; and providing programme coordination support.ย
The Division of Concepts and Planning (SGCP) is responsible for the development and promotion of safeguards concepts and policy; the coordination of research and development activities and Member State Support Programmes; strategic planning; the implementation of the quality management system of the Department; and the provision and development of training.

Main Purpose
Reporting to the Section Head, the Safeguards System Integration Officer identifies and develops information technology and prototype software solutions to support key elements of the Divisionโs mandate addressing developments in the nuclear fuel cycle and related technical capabilities of Member States. The incumbent contributes to the work of the Division by utilizing modern information solutions with intuitive user interface design to enable structured, consistent evaluation and integration of relevant technical information into safeguards approaches. The incumbent designs and tests new algorithms and analytic features in prototype software, and supports information system needs for quality management and training efforts in the Division.

The Safeguards System Integration Officer is: (1) a business analyst, identifying information technology solutions to support the work of the Division; (2) a web and prototype software developer; and (3) a systems integrator, ensuring interoperability between prototype systems and existing departmental platforms.ย

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
University degree in information management, information technology, computer science or a related field.
Minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of information management needs and solutions.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $70212 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 37493*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
