5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Project Context and Scope: ย  The Regional Data Hub (RDH) is dedicated to providing data and analysis expertise and guidance for implementing the IOM Strategic Plan. The RDH strengthens the regional evidence base on migration by providing technical support and capacity development to IOM offices, regional bodies, member states and other stakeholders on migration and displacement data; and supporting the uptake of knowledge and evidence to inform policies and programmes. Activities and objectives of the RDH are in line with the priorities of the IOM Migration Data Strategy to: 1) strengthening of the regional evidence base on migration; 2) developing the data and information management capacities of states, Regional Economic Communities and other key partners; and 3) ensuring more evidence-based IOM and UN-wide engagement in the region.ย  ย  Historically, the RDH has produced research and thematic analysis on a variety of topics, particularly in the domain of route-based investigation, and plans to continue these efforts under the Danish-funded CCMD programme (2024-2026) which aims to contribute to improved evidence-based migration management and reduced risk of irregular migration and displacement occurring, in the context of disasters, climate change and environmental degradation in countries of origin, transit and destination along key migration corridors in North, East, and West Africa. In line with the Danish Organisational Strategy for IOM (2023-2026) and IOMโ€™s Strategic Plan 2024-2028, the CCMD programme focuses on four outcomes, divided into two programmatic areas: 1) Human Mobility in the Context of Disasters, Climate Change and Environmental Degradation; and 2) Migration Data and Research. Under Outcome 4 (Decision makers and responders responsibly use data and its analysis to inform migration management policies and the delivery of assistance to vulnerable migrants), Output 4.2 (Governments and key stakeholders have access to migration research and reliable data analysis to engage in evidence informed dialogue and learning exchange on policies and processes supporting good migration at global, regional and national levels), the RDH envisages to support mixed method research initiatives by building on well-established expertise and positioning of regional programmes and partnerships with academic institutions to cover route-based research along with climate-related assessments to advance policy and decision-making in the migration management domain, particularly with regard to human mobility in the context of disasters, climate change and environmental degradation. ย  ย  Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing
