The Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAiR) is a voluntary multi-stakeholder network and movement for change, uniquely bringing together actors from 13 constituencies interested in the transformation of the Agri-Food System. GFAiR is made up of app. 1,000 member networks and institutions, working together through collective advocacy and action, to shape the future of agriculture and food and their role in achieving sustainable development. The partners in GFAiR come from all around the world and across many constituencies, including farmers, consumers and civil society organizations, women and youth organizations, the private sector, public national and international research systems, advisory services, education, donor bodies and three UN Organizations. GFAiR's reach is achieved through these organizations and the many millions of people they involve.ย ย ย ย ย

The Global NARS Consortium (GNC), established under the Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAiR), aims to amplify the collective voice of National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS), enhance their global representation, and foster partnerships between the Global South and international research organizations. The GNC seeks to strengthen NARS by improving their resource base, capacities, and collaboration with global partners.

On behalf of GFAiR, the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) , which hosts GFAiR in its Rome, Italy office, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve asย Intern.

About the position
ย
Based in Rome, Italy and under the direct supervision of the GFAiR Team Leader, the Intern will gain hands-on experience in international agricultural research collaboration. The incumbent will support the Global NARS Consortium 's initiatives, as well as the development and implementation of strategies aimed at strengthening NARS and promoting sustainable agricultural innovation.

Responsibilities

More specifically, the Intern will:

- Support the research and analysis on topics related to NARS, including capacity development, policy frameworks, and innovation systems.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, policy briefs, and communication materials to support GNC activities.
- Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and webinars, including logistical arrangements and documentation.
- Assist with stakeholders and partners engagement to facilitate information exchange and collaboration.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of databases and knowledge management systems.
- Assist with the promotion and publication of GNC news and articles on social media.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Ongoing or recently completed university studies in languages, business administration, accounting, or related fields.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with virtual collaboration tools.
- Proficiency of the English language, both written and spoken.ย ย
- Basic knowledge of the Italian language, both written and spoken.
- Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, courtesy and tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.
- Good skills in personal organization and priority setting.
- Good client orientation and service approach.
- Good time management skills and attention to details.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Strong interest in agricultural research and development.
Benefits
Terms of employment
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university or graduate school and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six months. The internship can be either on a part-time or a full-time basis for a period of 6 months with a possible extension of up to one year. The monthly stipend will be established in accordance with Bioversity International's local standards and regulations.
