ContextThe Reporting Officer reports directly to the Programme Management Unit (PMU) Manager under the overall guidance of the WCO Representative. S/he works closely with the other members of the PMU and the technical units within the WCO, to support reporting for the Country Office activities. The Reporting Officer ensures that reports are based on accurate health data and evidence-based factual elements. The incumbent develops and facilitates timely technical reporting on awards received by the country office. Assignments require ongoing contacts with staff at all levels throughout WHO, in country and including the Regional and HQ Offices as appropriate, to receive advice and exchange.

Task DescriptionWithin the delegated authority and under the supervision of the PMU manager, the UN Volunteer will: • Review, develop and edit donor proposals and reports. • Act as a focal point for knowledge management for the Sudan Health Assistance and Response to Emergencies (SHARE) Project. • Support implementation missions, development of presentations, infographics materials related to the WCO flagship partnerships in the WCO including WB and AFDB. • Support overall programme planning and implementation of the PMU. • Track actions related to the implementation of projects, ensuring key deliverables are monitored and deadlines are met. • Analyse project management processes and performance, identify challenges and risks. • In collaboration with the technical and communication teams, document success stories and the impact of delivered supplies and services on the quality of health of the affected population. • Other WCO-related tasks as deemed necessary by the responsible officer.

Living conditions and remarksPort Sudan is a Category E hardship duty station and non-family duty station. The Rest and Recuperation (R&R) cycle for the Port Sudan duty station is 4 weeks. Movement of international staff is restricted and takes place in UN vehicles. Working for the UN in Sudan provides an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential. As this is an international UN Volunteer expert assignment, WHO will be responsible for arranging volunteer housing. International UN Volunteers receive a volunteer living allowance to sustain a basic, adequate, and safe lifestyle. This allowance varies from one location to another depending on local living costs, but all International UN Volunteers experts in the same location receive the same allowance. Below is a summary of the Conditions of Service. The purpose of allowances for international UN Volunteers specialists is to enable the international UN Volunteers to sustain a modest and secure standard of living at the duty station.
