IFC is seeking a Regional Industry Manager for its infrastructure, energy, mining, municipal and digital (INR) investment activities in the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan (MEPA).ย The position is based in Dubai and will report to the Regional Industry Director, INR, Middle East and Central Asia region (MCA).ย
The Regional Industry Manager (RIM) will be responsible for leading business development, transaction processing, and portfolio management for INR investment activities in the region, managing an investment pipeline and a debt and equity portfolio of approximately $1.3 billion in committed assets under management. RIM will also coordinate on a continuous basis with IFCโs Regional Directors, Country Managers, the MCA INR Upstream and Advisory Manager, INR Global Sector and other Regional Managers, as well as other relevant departments/divisions within IFC, such asย treasury, legal, risk, environmental & social, work-out unit, etc.ย ย
RIM will have direct supervisory responsibility over a team of approximately 15 investment staff, while also collectively managing the IFC MCA INR team of approximately 45 people jointly with the Regional Industry Manager for the Central Asia and Tรผrkiye and the INR Upstream and Advisory Manager to jointly develop and deliver the full spectrum of IFCโs INR activities across the entire MCA region.ย
Duties and Accountabilitiesย ย
โข ย Lead and manage direct reports and collectively co-manage along with the INR Regional Industry Manager for CAT and the INR Upstream and Advisory Manager the entire MCA INR team to ensure that it operates as one team, that it is high-performing, well-motivated, and committed to the advancement of IFCโs strategic goals.
โข ย Mentor and develop INR staff in the region.
โข ย Provide full range of administrative and HR Management oversight and professional development of staff in the unit.ย
โข ย Develop the strategy for IFCโs INR investment activities in the MEPA region, in partnership with IFC regional and industry management and relevant World Bank Group (WBG) colleagues, including setting key business goals for the investment program, with a focus on high impact projects and in line with IFCโs country strategies.ย
โข ย Work closely to coordinate, leverage and support IFCโs Upstream and Advisory services in implementation of IFCโs INR strategy for MEPA and with Regional Industry Managers in other sectors to develop opportunities to expand IFCโs business.ย
โข ย Foster relationships with WBG counterparts to identify collaboration opportunities and to enhance business delivery at the country and regional levels.
โข ย Build and maintain high-level relationships with clients in the region, understand sector trends, lead multidisciplinary teams to turn leads into transactions that effectively balance IFCโs additionality, financial risks and rewards, sustainable development impact and opportunity for innovation, replication and scalability.
โข ย Lead INR business development efforts in the MEPA, together with the regional/country teams, and global INR teams, manage selected INR client relationships and ensure high level of client satisfaction and program delivery within impact and profitability targets.
โข ย Actively manage profitability for the INR business in the region, with strong revenue and net income generation for long-term financial sustainability.
โข ย Assume the transaction manager role and provide credit and investment guidance to teams as well as quality control.
โข ย Ensure portfolio experience and perspective are fed into strategy development and business decision-making, including sharing of lessons learned, producing benchmarking analytics, etc.
โข ย Monitor the overall risk of the debt portfolio in a timely manner and to the high-quality standards, and make recommendations on the appropriate level of specific loan loss reserves.
โข ย Actively manage the entire equity portfolio, including proposing and filling board seats with qualified candidates for strategic assets, reviewing valuations, existing strategies, etc.
โข ย Provide early warning for assets at risk and actively communicate with relevant colleagues, ensuring close coordination with the work-out unit and other Risk counterparts.
โข ย Supervise compliance with IFC financial, environmental, social, legal, and other requirements.
โข ย Be part of, and actively contribute to, the regional leadership team and the global sector teams.
Selection Criteria
โข ย Master's degree in business, finance or equivalent qualification.
โข ย Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in financing/investing in the real sector (infrastructure and/or manufacturing, agribusiness and services sectors).
โข ย Proven experience in managing and developing teams.
โข ย Strong leadership, interpersonal, and written and verbal communications skills.ย
โข ย Proven experience sourcing and structuring complex investment transactions with strong track record in developing client relationships and processing quality investments.
โข ย Strong sense of service to clients and demonstrated business development aptitude. Proven success in developing client relationships and executing quality investments.
โข ย Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions, challenge the status quo, and make sound decisions to build IFC business.
โข ย Sound knowledge of portfolio/asset management and experience in portfolio supervision of loans, equities and guarantees, and restructurings and recovery of impaired assets.
โข ย Ability to work in the matrix as an integral part of the Regional Department, delivering high quality work within tight deadlines and meeting team objectives.
