Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, \"Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection\". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.
The Division of Human Health is organized into four Sections whose objectives are to enhance the capabilities of Member States to address needs related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health problems through the development and application of nuclear techniques within a framework of quality assurance.
The Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging Section's primary objective is to enhance Member States' capabilities to use nuclear medicine and other imaging technologies efficiently, mainly, but not limited to cancer and cardiac diseases, and for undertaking related basic and clinical research. To achieve those goals, special attention is given to the preparation of educational resources, guidelines and guidance documents.
Main Purpose
Reporting to the Section Head, the Radiologist coordinates and supports research, provides technical and advisory services and collects, analyses and disseminates information related to the application of radiological techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and in applied research in the field of human health with a view to meeting development goals related to the provision of health services.
Role
The Radiologist is: (1) a research coordinator, providing high level expertise and advice to researchers and coordinated research project organizers in support of the efficient and effective development and implementation of research and training; (2) an adviser to the Section, the Division and other Agency staff on programmatic, scientific and technical matters related to his/her field of expertise; and (3) a technical adviser, providing support for collaborative efforts aimed at a synergistic approach to the use of diagnostic medical imaging development in Member States.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
โข Higher Degree - Medical Doctor Degree with a post-graduate specialization in Radiology. Post-graduate specialization in Nuclear Medicine is a significant asset.
โข Minimum of seven years professional experience in the field of clinical diagnostic radiology.
โข Proven experience in conducting clinical research, possibly in an academic environment.
โข Proven record of recent publications in international peer reviewed journals and/or other relevant publications.
โข Advanced experience in medical education, preferably including broad experience in web-based teaching resources and distance-assisted training programs for diagnostic imaging professionals. Certificate in education is an asset.
โข Good national and international standing in the area of specialization and association with international professional organizations.
โข Experience in managing international projects following results-based principles.
โข Excellent oral and written command of English.

Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $84672 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 45215*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
