Mission and objectivesUNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPAโs goal is to achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health, realize reproductive rights, and reduce maternal mortality to accelerate progress on the ICPD agenda, to improve the lives of adolescents and youth, and women, enabled by population dynamics, human rights, and gender equality. In 2018, UNFPA launched efforts to achieve three transformative results, ambitions that promise to change the world for every man, woman and young person : 1.) Ending unmet need for family planning 2.) Ending preventable maternal death 3.) Ending gender-based violence and harmful practises UNFPA recognizes that innovation is a key accelerator to achieve these results. UNFPA will harness innovation to meet tomorrowโs challenges and boost its impact, especially in addressing furthest behind populations, and leverage opportunities, social capital, funding and technology by (a) strengthening the corporate innovation architecture and capabilities, (b) scaling up innovations that have proven to be effective and impactful, (c) forming new partnerships and connecting with relevant innovation ecosystems, (d) strengthening and leveraging financing for innovation, and (e) expanding communities and culture for innovation.
ContextThis UNV mission is part of an UNFPA project based in the Comoros: \"Strengthening community resilience by providing sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support to women and young people, including those living with disabilities, affected by cholera and floods in the Comoros. It will run for a period of 10 months. This project aims to ensure the continuity of essential sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services to vulnerable populations affected by cholera and floods, with a particular focus on pregnant women and women and girls most at risk, including those living with disabilities. The main government partners are the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Gender Promotion, Solidarity, and Information. The overall outcome of the project is as follows: โImproved availability of quality reproductive health services in the two targeted districts and six GBV monitoring and alert committees, and strengthened prevention and care for survivors of gender-based violenceโ and โthe population has used integrated reproductive health services and exercised their reproductive health rights without violence.โ
Task DescriptionWithin the delegated authority of the Country Director and under the supervision of the International Programme Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Project Officer will: - Support the development of annual and quarterly work plans for the activities planned in the project; - Contribute to the planning, implementation of interventions and ensure the control, quality assurance and monitoring of project activities; - Technical and financial monitoring: - In collaboration with the UNFPA Monitoring and Evaluation team, develop a project monitoring and evaluation plan incorporating the indicators; - Collect and analyze technical/financial data/information relating to the project; - Prepare the half-yearly and annual project reports with the project stakeholders; Participate in the various meetings on the project and share the reports; - Support the project review, with the participation of all stakeholders, to reflect project activities and achievements, identify good practices and lessons learned, and agree on post-project follow-ups if necessary.
