5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesICVA is a global network of non-governmental organisations whose mission is to make humanitarian action more principled and effective by working collectively and independently to influence policy and practice. Our work is based on the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence, as well as the Principles of Partnership. We work towards a system that enables people affected by humanitarian crises to receive equitable access to quality assistance and protection rooted in international humanitarian and human rights law. We promote innovative approaches to humanitarian policy development and implementation, and offer evidence-based, solutions-oriented advocacy. We promote equitable inclusive engagement of NGOs and principled multi-stakeholder partnerships to realise the full value of diversity and to ensure the legitimacy of our work.

ContextThe International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) hosts a large collection of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) resources on its website, including posters, banners, videos, podcasts, and other communications materials in multiple languages. As ICVA prepares to migrate to a new website, there is a need to review and rationalise these resources to ensure they remain relevant, accurate, non-duplicative, and aligned with current PSEA standards and practices. This review will help ensure that the new website remains user-friendly and strategically focused, while retaining high-value materials for the humanitarian community.

Task DescriptionThe purpose of this volunteer assignment is to support ICVA by conducting a structured review and triage of existing PSEA resources to inform decisions on which materials should be retained, archived, or removed during the website migration process. Under the guidance of ICVA staff, the UN Volunteer will: - Review the PSEA database hosted on the ICVA website - Apply agreed criteria to assess each resource (e.g. relevance, duplication, currency, language coverage, format) - Identify high-value or flagship resources that should be prioritised for the new website and outdated, duplicate, or low-use materials - Document findings in a shared tracking tool (e.g. spreadsheet or database) - Contact relevant stakeholders for use of logos - Support with upload of relevant documentation (TBD) - Provide a brief summary of key observations and recommendations at the end of the assignment The assignment is analytical and organisational in nature and does not require content rewriting or technical web development.
