Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the Protocol and Liaison Service (PLS), Office of the Under- Secretary-General, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, New York. Interns work directly with the Chief of Protocol or/and the Protocol Officer assigned. This assignment will be offered on a full-time in-person basis, for an initial period of three (3) months, with the possibility of extension up to a total combined period of six (6) months. The intern shall undertake the following duties in support of the Protocol and Liaison Service, which may include, but are not limited to: • Assisting in developing, drafting and preparing materials; • Researching, analyzing and compiling information; • Entering and classifying data and organizing documents, materials and resources; • Assisting with logistical preparations and responsibilities for various special events; • Assisting with graphics and presentations; • Compiling statistics and running reports; • Other duties as required The expected deliverables of this internship include but are not limited to: assisting in training workshops for Permanent Mission and UN entities; maintaining PLS website; preparing visual graphics and reports, providing support during special events; updating lists and registries, assisting in front desk duties, etc. Qualifications/special skillsIdeal candidates should be good team players and work well under stress. LanguagesFluency in English is required, knowledge of other official UN languages is an asset. Additional InformationThis internship is an UNPAID and full-time engagement that provides a framework through which students from diverse academic backgrounds gain exposure to the work of the United Nations by way of their service within Secretariat entities.
