In this role, youโll lead the implementation and coordination of key protection activities - including Protection Monitoring, Individual Protection Assistance (IPA), and Civilian Self-Protection (CSP) - across the North Area Office. Youโll manage and mentor field teams, ensure quality delivery and compliance with NRCโs protection standards, and oversee budgeting, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in shaping NRCโs national protection strategy by providing field-level insights, lessons learned, and emerging trends.ย

What you will do:
Here are some of your specific responsibilities.
Oversee implementation of protection activities according to the agreed work plan, procurement and MEAL plans, and budget. Supervise PfV field teams and ensure proper team performance, technical quality, and adherence to SOPs. Contribute to protection strategy, needs assessments, and programme development. Ensure timely and quality reporting on both programmatic results and protection trends. Represent NRC in field-level coordination meetings and contribute to multi-sectoral coordination efforts. Ensure that protection activities are implemented in accordance with international protection standards, data protection protocols, and NRC guidelines. Work closely with the Area programme Manager, Protection Specialist and relevant support units (Finance, Logistics, HR, Security, M&E). Promote accountability, learning, and adaptive management across the PfV team. Support in the roll-out of a needs assessment in target areas in north Ukraine, including border regions and other potentially insecure environmentsย Maintain up-to-date service mapping and referral pathways for individuals identified in need of assistanceย Prepare and develop status reports as required by management, including timely reporting on programmatic and contextual issues Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information at field level, development and maintenance of databases, filing of documents in line with data protection protocols.ย Manage budgets, monitoring and evaluation plans, implementation plans, procurement plans, and plans of action for all protection programming in the North Area Office. Ensure close monitoring of project activities and ensure they are implemented based on agreed upon plans and are aligned with designated M&E and implementation planning; work with M&E team to ensure protection activities are monitored through the set modalities. Provide supervision and technical guidance to staff involved in IPA processing. Maintain service mapping and referral pathways; ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation. Regularly analyse protection risks and emerging trends, and coordinate with the Advocacy team where needed. Representation of NRC Protection in relevant meetings at field level as delegated by management. The Protection Manager will be the standing representative of NRC Protection at the Sub-national protection coordination structures based in North region. Lead field-level response to incidents, access-related constraints, or changes in protection context. Develop strong working relationships at the Country Office level, Area North level and field level with external protection actors and referral partners. Represent NRC at the field level in protection coordination meetings. Support the development of multisectoral coordination mechanisms at local level in line with PfV strategy and national legal frameworksย Develop protection tools and guidance and continually update protection action plans to ensure integrated and safe programming.ย Support Protection Specialist with strategic protection decisions, including supporting in the creation of a country-level protection strategy, inputs and analysis for protection risk analysis and analytical framework, and other core strategic protection needs.ยPlease download theย detailed job descriptionย to learn more about the position.ย
