1. Objective of the assignment

The IP for Business Division has launched and is actively advancing a range of strategic initiatives aimed at implementing sustainable, long-term projects to help businesses unlock their full potential through intellectual property (IP). The division's efforts are centered around two key areas; (i) developing and delivering business-focused content and specialized tools; and (ii) implementing a comprehensive portfolio of in-house programs and services; both designed to support businesses in building effective IP strategies.

The primary role of the contractor is to provide comprehensive support in the development and execution of the divisionโ€™s tools and programs. This includes support in the creation of new IP training materials and the implementation of the IP Management Clinic (IPMC) Program. The IPMC is a four-month initiative that helps innovative companies formulate tailored IP strategies aligned with their business plans and IP portfolios, offering personalized training and individualized mentoring. This global initiative spans over 40 countries, with at least 20 clinics planned for 2025.

The contractorโ€™s support will encompass both substantive contributions and technical expertise, including proficiency in online tools such as PowerPoint and Canva for formatting. Additionally, the contractor will oversee communication efforts to enhance the visibility of the division and its offerings across relevant platforms. ย At least two missions anticipated in 2025 and another two in 2026, TBD.


2. Deliverables/services

a) Support the planning and implementation of IPBD programs, particularly the IP Management Clinic Program, including coordinating logistics for clinics across more than 40 countries such as identify, onboard, and manage relevant experts, including designing and overseeing their contracts, at the rate of at least two clinics per quarter.ย 
b) Assist the IPBD team in designing and delivering tools and materials, as well as updating existing content to help businesses maximize the value of intellectual property.
c) Support the development of user-friendly guides, tutorials, and case studies to demonstrate the practical use of IPBD tools and services for target audiences, including in the area of the audiovisual sector.
d) Maintain and regularly update the IPMC webpage and the overall webpage for businesses (on a bi-monthly basis) and keeping track of the development of case studies from the IPMC.
e) Contribute to the creation and execution of communication and marketing strategies to enhance the visibility of the division and its offerings across relevant platforms.
f) Develop promotional materials and ensure consistent branding across various communication channels using tools such as PowerPoint and Canva.
g) Make presentations on different aspects of IP management for SMEs and WIPO tools programs and services for SMEs, when requested.ย 
h) Organize and provide substantive and logistical support for online and onsite events lead by the division
i) Conduct research and analyze data to support the development and improvement of tools, programs, and strategic initiatives. This includes research to assess the viability of ideas and projects, as well as preparing corresponding concept notes to facilitate informed decision-making.
j) Provide technical and administrative support for content formatting, report preparation, and stakeholder presentations.
k) Attend meetings and carry out additional tasks as requested by the Director.

By March 16, 2026, the contractor shall provide a full overview of the clinics conducted in 2025, including a forecast for 2026.ย 


3. Reportingย 

The Contractor will report to the IP for Business Division.ย 


4. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)

Education:ย 

Essential: A first level university degree in IP management, law, business administration or similar.ย 

Desirable: A second level university degree in IP management, law, business administration or similar.ย 

Experience: Up to two years of relevant professional experience, preferably working in an international environment and in particular:ย 
(a) Knowledge of intellectual property.ย 
(b) Good experience in the development of IP related projects on national/international levels
(c) Good experience and skills in conducting research and gathering relevant information/data independently.
(d) Understanding of how companies leverage IP for business development.

Competencies:ย 
(a) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.ย 
(b) Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint) and the internet.ย 
(d) Excellent written and oral skills.ย 
(e) Excellent analytical and organizational skills.ย 

Language: Excellent knowledge of English and at least one other UN language.ย 


5. Duration of contract and payment

The contractor will provide its services full time from April 1, 2025 until March 30, 2026. Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
