ย Context
The voluntary solidarity mechanism aims to prepare the relocation of applicants of international protection ย and towards this direction IOM is collaborating with its partners and other sub-contracted organizations to ensure beneficiaries travel in a safe and dignified manner and to prepare them before departure with enhanced skills and information to ease their integration in the Member State of Relocation (MSR). The project is funded by the Directorate for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission.ย
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator , the successful candidate will provide support in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities.
- Assist the Project Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day management of all movement operations for the relocation purposes with the aim to facilitate the pre-departure and movement-related activities for the potential beneficiaries of the scheme.
- Ensure that all operational procedures are implemented in accordance with IOM standards, guidelines, and operating procedures.
- Organize pre departure cultural orientation sessions in coordination with other IOM staff members and assist on the departure processing, including pre-embarkation and airport processing.
- Develop methods and monitoring progress ensuring quality and liability to include all possible operational aspects.ย
- Properly monitor logistical, movements related to beneficiariesโ attendance at pre-departure information sessions, health assessment at other related phases of Relocationย process.
- Liaise with representatives from the Member States of Relocation (MSR) and the Benefitting Member States (BMS) to collect information on the reception of the beneficiaries in the member states of relocation.ย
- Ensure close coordination with relevant IOM Offices in the five Mediterranean countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain) to facilitate the implementation of the action. This includes organizing coordination meetings, contributing to reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with project-related SOPs. Extract statistical information for the demographics of the beneficiaries of the Relocation Scheme.ย
- Attend coordination meetings with IOM missions from the five Mediterranean countries and, as well as with Greek counterparts.
- Provide support during escorting missions of beneficiaries to their final destinations, when needed.ย
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education
- University degree from an accredited academic institution with minimum three years of relevant work experience.
- Masterโs degree will be considered as an advantage.ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Previous experience in relocation activities will be considered an asset;
- Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred;
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage. Skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc) will be considered an asset;
- Valid driverโs license with at least five years driving experience an advantage;
- Flexibility and capacity in conflict resolution;
- Good communication skills, personal commitment and efficiency. Languages
- For this position, fluency in Greek and certified working knowledge of Englishย ย is required (oral and written). IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
