New York Portfolio Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management.

Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partnersโ€™ programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.

UNOPS has signed an agreement with the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) to implement project activities of the Civil Society Organization (CSO)-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding for the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs/Peacebuilding Support Office (DPPA/PBSO).

The CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding Initiative was launched by DPPA, alongside various civil society and UN System partners, in 2023 to create a platform for diverse civil society actors, especially those from the Global South, to influence global peacebuilding policies and objectives and enable the UN to more systematically engage with CSOs in its work building and sustaining peace. Culminating in annual Dialogues, the Initiative aims to institutionalize UN-CSO-Member State exchanges on peacebuilding and South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) among diverse CSOs.

This position is based in New York and may require international travel.The incumbent will report to DSIP Senior Portfolio Manager.

This position in UNOPS requires close coordination with the DPPA/PBSO and other UN entities. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Functional Responsibilities
The Project Management Support - Senior Officer (Coordination) will be responsible for the following duties:

Project management of the CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding Initiative:

Facilitate the programming of the CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding Core Group, support the maintenance and development of partnerships with CSOs and UN entities in the group, organize regular meetings, draft and facilitate collective review of working documents; Liaise with financial and in-kind contributors, including Member States, UN entities, and other donors; Coordinate between UNOPS and PBSO, monitor the projectโ€™s budget and reporting; Support in advancing the inclusion and empowerment of women and youth throughout the Initiative. Organization of the 2025 CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding:
Facilitate the participant selection and support program design process of the conference, in consultation with CSOs and UN System partners; Coordinate the substantive preparation of each session, liaise with session organizers, speakers, and facilitators; Organize consultations and preparation meetings with CSOs at regional, subregional, and national levels leading up to the annual global-level Dialogue; Support in designing surveys and other tools to collect participant feedback and evaluate the conferenceโ€™s impact. Support PBSOโ€™s office-wide work on civil society engagement and inclusion:
Contribute to knowledge management of the officeโ€™s civil society partners and civil society engagement best practices; Provide input to PBSO leadershipโ€™s engagements with civil society interlocutors; Facilitate the identification of CSO briefers, speakers, and representatives for various UN forums and policy processes related to peacebuilding.

The effective performance of the Project Management Support - Senior Officer (Coordination) will result in the successful organization of the third CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding and enhanced civil society engagement and inclusion in DPPA/PBSOโ€™s work.

Education:
Advanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) with 2 years of relevant experience. OR; First level university degree (Bachelorโ€™s or equivalent) with 4 years of relevant experience.

Required experience
Relevant experience is defined as experience in project support, project management, or related fields. Minimum 2 years of experience in supporting peacebuilding or civil society engagement projects is required. Desired Experience (The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply):
Experience with the United Nations or other International Organizations is an asset. Experience at peacebuilding Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) is desirable. Experience in partnership management and coordination is strongly desired. Language
