Work LocationHQ-Based, Geneva, Switzerland Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization fully dedicated to the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ITC works with and through partners to strengthen the competitiveness of SME exporters and build vibrant, sustainable export sectors that provide entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly for women, youth and poor, underserved communities. ITCโ€™s Office for Latin America and the Caribbean aims at increasing ITCโ€™s presence and interventions in the region and has the following specific objectives: 1. Enhance ITCโ€™s visibility and establish partnerships with local and regional counterparts, governments, private sector and donors. 2. Identify project opportunities, design technical assistance interventions, and manage projects and programs. 3. Coordinate all ITC activities in the region, including those executed by ITCโ€™s technical sections. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (OLAC), and in close cooperation with her/his team manager, the intern will: Assist with specific tasks related to the implementation of existing trade-development projects in Latin America, and Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries including: โ€ข Planning and logistics o Support the preparation and follow-up of documentation for the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding with partners, o Assist in updating project workplans and schedules, and provide logistical support for the implementation of activities and missions of various projects, including follow-ups with vendors for procurement and contracting processes, o Assist in monitoring attendance at events and training sessions. โ€ข Monitoring and reporting o Support the update of database to track project activities, results and indicators, o Assist in collecting and compiling data from participating institutions and companies, creation of surveys, expression of interests, etc. and reporting of activities using ITCโ€™s internal tools such as ITC surveys and ITC Events โ€ข Support in Information gathering o Assist in collecting and organizing economic information on selected countries and sectors o Support the preparation of documents that will serve as inputs for fundraising strategies. โ€ข Visibility o Support the creation of communication materials on projects activities for donor visibility and project promotion. o Collaborate in the preparation and review of presentations for internal and external stakeholders, as well as in the review of materials from technical teams. โ€ข Agribusiness investment promotion approach o Conduct background research on capital providers in the agri-space (and on general project topics) o Support in completing the Landscape mapping of capital providers โ€ข Other tasks o Performing specific tasks related to the development of project proposals, including intelligence gathering, trade statistics and industry analysis, and drafting sections of documents. o Perform searches and prepare short briefs on relevant news, projects, programs, and publications on international trade and development in Latin America and the Caribbean. o Participate in meetings, phone calls or videoconferences, take notes, prepare minutes, and follow up on actions. o Draft and finalize reports, presentations, both in English and Spanish; carry out quality control, proofread, edit texts, and review translations. o Assist the preparation of country briefs and other regional intelligence for the use of the section and that of ITCโ€™s Executive Director. Qualifications/special skillsEducation Applicants to the ITC internship program must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelorโ€™s level or equivalent); c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in a or b above) and, if selected, shall commence the internship within one year of graduation. Relevant field of studies include international affairs, economics, development, public policy, international business or related areas. Skills โ€ข Computer literate, good command of Microsoft Office with advanced skills in MS Excel, interest in and adaptability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual professional environment. โ€ข Pragmatism, Client Commitment, Excellence & Accountability.
